Install it. hurf durf
Serious answer:
Reformat your drive and leave it Raw. If you want to use your drive for anything else, you'll need to partition it. Make the partition you want to use for the USB Loader the first and primary partition; make sure you leave it Raw. (Format the other one into FAT32 or whatever so you can use it for normal things.) Get WBFS Manager, load the drive/partition, and format it. You should be good to go now, just add games.
You plug the drive into the USB slot closer to the center of the Wii... I think. I can never remember; I always guess. >_>

Pff, you don't need to format it to WBFS. Use this. I have it and it can play ISOs directly from your USB if you install cIOS222 and cIOS223. Read it. It's not that hard.

Huh. That's cool. It would be nice to get back the space I partitioned off...

well the FAT format has 4gb limit, of course you could only use scrubbed games. The Fat has a 4gb limit, but in the latest USB loaders if the game is over 4gb; it just breaks it up into seperate .wbfs files.
I have had no problem playing games like Brawl off a FAT drive.

You would do it like any other game. Just dump the game onto your FAT drive using the USB loader itself, you'll probably need to update to the newer versions. I personally use USB loader Configurable.
Or, if you have the .iso on your computer; you can use the program Wii Backup Manager to turn the .iso into .wbfs file in 4gb chunks and transfer those file to your hard drive.

Configurable USB Loader is the one I personally use. I find it easiest to actually partition it to WFBS, as it solves a lot of problems, and doesn't require so much hoop jumping.
If you want to keep your precious hard drive for other things, Partition the hard drive on windows into 2 partitions. Make sure the FIRST partition is the WBFS partition, or else it wont be recognized.
Use the 2nd partition for movies, music, and other media. MPlayer CE (found in the homebrew browser) can play all sorts of media. Because WBFS is such a foreign format, MPlayerCE wont even recognize it, and consider your 2nd partition (Fat32 or NTFS) as the 1st partition. (MplayerCE only reads the first partition from the hard drive, but if the 1st partition is WBFS, it doesn't even see it, and skips to the 2nd).
That's by far the easiest way to do it. I personally prefer WiiBackupManager to get my games from my PC to my Hard drive. But others work too.
NOTE: Going the route of having your wii read ISO files, via a FAT based format means you CANNOT rip games straight from the Wii to the Hard drive. You lose that functionality. That's another reason to go with the method mentioned above.

I tried using WBFS Manager and USB Loader GX. WBFS Manager made it so my computer couldn't read it. I had to reformat it on another computer to make it work again. I'm glad I found Configurable USB Loader

I use a FAT drive and I can rip my games onto my Hard drive from my Wii just fine. It's been possible for some time now.
