Merry Christmas! The gift we at the Penultimate Studio bring you today is a gift that will hopefully grow to create refreshed, joyful memories for years to come: an experimental beta of our new project - Penultimate!
Penultimate is a modification of Super Smash Bros. Brawl intended to make the game closely resemble Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in gameplay and aesthetics. There are currently seven major updates, or \"Movements\", planned:
First Movement - Novum Attributum
The attributes of the characters (weight, speed, mobility, etc.) will be adjusted to match their attributes in Ultimate. The frame data on all moves that exist in Ultimate will also be edited to match those of Ultimate.
Second Movement - Praesens Machina
The attributes of the overall game engine (ledge characteristics, shield properties, air dodge, etc.) will be adjusted to be as similar to Ultimate as possible. If possible, Ultimate's parry mechanic will also be implemented.
Third Movement - Quod Advenas
As many characters from Ultimate's total roster as possible will be added. This includes every pre-Brawl character not originally in Brawl, as well as every character introduced in post-Brawl games.
Fourth Movement - Integrum Aequitate
This Movement will mark the beginning of continuous updates to balance the characters' viablity and improve the overall gameplay. A balance team will be established to adjust the engine and characters according to community feedback and competitive player opinion. Balance updates will occur regularly throughout the life of the game.
Fifth Movement - Modern Campo Proelii
As many of Ultimate's stages as possible will be added. In accordance with our policy to never remove any pre-existing content, if a stage that exists in Brawl is significally different in any way from its Ultimate counterpart, both versions of the stage will be included. (For example, Brawl's Battlefield and Ultimate's Battlefield will both be included.) In addition, as many stages as possible from every Super Smash Bros. title will be included.
Sixth Movement - Ultimum Experientia
The user interface (title screen, menus, character portraits, stock icons, etc.) will be adjusted to be as similar to Ultimate's as possible. A wide selection of music from every Super Smash Bros. installment will also be added to the game.
Seventh Movement - Extraordinarius Nativitate
Penultimate's content will not be limited to official Super Smash Bros. content. The Seventh Movement will mark the beginning of the inclusion of Extra Content created by the community and developers. Extra content can be anything - new characters, stages, music, and more. This Movement may be the conclusion to the currently planned Movement system, but it will also be the beginning of a new era for the game and for the community. The regular balance updates will also begin to include Extra Content, which will continue indefinitely.

I heavily edited Smash 2 Lucas to put together a moveset that is similar to his official one (vBrawl, 4, Ultimate) and functions properly in PM. His stats such as weight and speed are edited to match Ultimate's. The two download links are for the edited FitLucas.pac and for Brawl's FitLucasMotionEtc.pac, both of which must replace the pre-existing files in your build (pf/fighter/lucas folder) to ensure that this works as intended.

- The following are examples of things that should be reported:
- Broken downloads
- Broken previews
- Credit issues (e.g. using someone else's work without credit)
- Usability issues (e.g. doesn't work).
- Censored nudity does not need to be reported.
- Reports should be clear. Don't write just "Sandbag"; explain the issue in full.
- Please do not report an already reported issue. The list of current reports on this hack is below.
