This has some to do with Brawl Hacking, so I suppose it should be in this section as opposed to the Off Topic section.

    -

Is anyone else having trouble keeping a working sd-card? I've read that sd-cards can be damaged by constantly reading from them as is required by Brawl Hacking. Apparently it has been damaging mine to some degree.
I've went through two sd-cards in the course of 6 months. The lock-tab broke off in the first one, forcing me to put tape on it so the wii could still read it. Eventually, it would no longer work in my wii, however it would still work with my computer at random times. I managed to get all of my information off of it before it stopped working altogether.
Now my wii/computer randomly refuse to read the 2nd sd-card. I've had to put tape on it as well because the lock-tab has become loose and it doesn't stay in place without taping it down. I'm going to have to buy a new one before it becomes unusable.

It has got me thinking that maybe I'm just buying crappily built sd-cards. Both of these cards were kept in the Wii or in the card reader. Neither of them suffered any impacts that would have knocked anything loose. It's as though they are just falling apart for no reason.

Both of these cards were 2gb Sandisk mini's with an adaptor. Which brand of sd-cards are recommended? I basically just want one that will last for more than 3-4 months. Thanks.

Seems weird that you would go through them so fast.
I went through my first one really fast, because it was a crappy SD card I got from the Wii powersaves thing (back when I was too stupid to know you can download saves off the internet ), but that was obviously because it was awful quality.
I got a Kingston 2GB SD card and it has been working fine for me so far, not a single problem.

So I'm not sure, but it might just be the quality of the ones you have bought.

Dont buy SD cards made by SanDisk, the tab breaks very often, try using different brands, and see how well they preform.

My local stores don't carry too many brands of sdcards. It's mostly just SanDisk and PNY. According to Walmart's site, they should also have Duracell and Edge brand. Are either of them better than SanDisk?

I don't like ordering online. I'm a little too paranoid about my security lol.

I think I'll just get that PNY 3-pack. If each one lasts a month, it'll still be beating what I'm using now.

    Clicky Clicky
    Fear no longer!

.....the only problem is that you order it online...... xDD

Anyways, yeah I guess that's a good option, provided it's pretty cheap.

That's ironic XD. PNY are pretty cheap if I recall correctly.

I have a 2GB SanDisk SD card made for Nintendo and I had it for about three years and it still works to this day, even with all this hacking. Even just looking at it you can tell it's ancient, but the thing is tough and works like it's brand-new.

So that said I think maybe you guys just bought runt-of-the-litter ones or something, because from my experience SanDisk is a good brand and their products such as a 16GB flash drive, 1GB MP3 player, SD card reader and a 2GB SD card that I currently own have always held out well for me.

So that said I personally would recommend SanDisk.
