So I'm working on a stage kinda, and it came time to change the spawn points and stuff. so I preview the stage position model and expand the bones and animation tabs and change the x values per usual. Then I go to save and I get the "object reference not set to instance of object" error. so I start over and just edit the spawn point bones directly, but the same thing happens. I try changing the spawn points in brawlbox .63d and it works fine. What am I doing wrong?
yea the wii doesnt have an ethernet cable port so u have to have a wireless router for wifi or the usb adapter btw ur pretty jacked u lift alot? i havent had time lately
what do u mean test homebrew? if you go to the homebrew channel on his wii and the wii is connected to the internet you can update homebrew to the latest version (I am almost positive this is 100% safe). I think you click the little earth icon or something in the corner to search for an update. if you mean playing brawl online with wifi im not sure but usually unless it asks to update u are safe but id do more research
ah thanks for the help. im gonna just hafta suck it up and get the collisions right the ol fashioned way
EDIT: well i figured out what i was looking for basically. I'm posting this in case anyone else has trouble. if you change something in the chr file (rotating a stage a bit) find the bone in the model that corresponds to the chr data (it should be named the same) and make its values the same as the ones in the modified chr. For example, in the opassa beach stage, in the chr file of nw4r root (the model i wanted to rotate) i changed the y rotation from 180 to 230. now if you dont do anything else and u go into the collision editor the camera will focus on where it was before. to change this, preview the model mdl0 file and expand the bones and animation tabs. find the bone that corresponds to the one you modified in the chr then simply paste the new coordinates in the animation tab for the bone (should be named the same as the chr file, in my case they were both named nw4r root). now the camera will focus on the new stage position instead of what it was before! if anyone is confused just post or pm me, im really new to this but im happy to help.
ah, thank you for the reply! i thought id add some pictures to show you what i mean
this is opassa beach by br3compactor. I really like the idea of the stage but i was gonna try to add some stuff to it. but first of all i was gonna rotate the model a bit so u can see the sides as well as the sea
this is after i modified the CHR file in brawlbox. basically i just changed the y rotation and x rotation a bit. i didnt touch the z. but as you can see in the pic the floor collision doesnt match the model anymore. I was hoping there was an easier way than just editing the collision trial by error style
so I've been messing around with the new brawlbox, and have been playing with the x,y, and z rotations of a stage just for fun. the problem is when i do this it of course changes the position of the stage model, so the collision data (floor and stuff) is usually messed up. i know how to change collision data, but how would i view the position of the model with the newly changed x y and z values?
Ok, so thanks to Guamboy27 I have made progress in editing stage boundaries. I'm working on a distant planet stage hack where I have removed the left side hill of the stage but I've run into some problems. When I edit the boundaries/camera in BrawlWall, it works but then all the animations freeze like guamboy noted. So I try to edit the boundaries in Brawlbox. But when I edit them in model data 100 i get the "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT
pretty sure i figured it out i think i was having a problem with my brawlbox version?
guamboy thank you you are now officially my hero also wow u did junglehijinx? thats on my sd card right now one of me and my friends often played levels.
so I've been messing with brawlwall and have been editing certain stages cameras and boundaries, as me and my friends always play 4 player and we generally like a bit more room. things have been working, except on certain stages when i edit the death boundaries certain stage elements get messed up. For example, I edited the yoshis story melee stage (the final one by KTH and GameWatching) but a few seconds after the match starts, randall freezes, the waves in the background freeze, and Pack E Derm freezes. the stage is playable but i wanted to fix it. any thoughts?
