Well, heres what ive tried so far-
1) deleting all of the files and trying from scratch (meaning finding my old hacking files that did work and trying them)- but that didnt work, just black screened after booting
2) re-installing gecko, and the homebrew channel. -above problem still remained, no change.
3) formatting the sd card, above problem remained, no change.
what im about to try is riivoloution, and hopefully that will make a difference. also, thanks for the suggestion and help! i'll update the post saying problem solved if it works, otherwise ill just update the list with a 4.

Alright, slight update, I installed riivoloution to my wii and got the channel and everything, then i got this guys entire pack
and wanted to try it out (since im new to riivoloution and this person apparently knew what the heck he was doing) While it HAS gotten me past the black screen of death i was previously encountering, no codes/hacks/anything custom load into the game. (and i thought i had it!) still working on it myself, and as always, thank you for your help!

Help & Tutorials / Help / Hacks no longer loading into brawl

Alrighty, so here's the story-
I had my brand new SD card all decked out and ready to go, full of new stages, character textures, sounds, and even a new strap loading screen! i put the sd card in, and all worked fine! all the characters had their new skins and whatnot, the new music was playing properly on the new stages, but i wanted to put in a cool new character select screen!
well, when i tried to do so, (by placing the sc_selcharacter.pac in /pf/menu2/) , and loaded it up, the screen stayed black after I booted it from gecko. i managed to "fix" it by turning off the wii and deleting the sc chatacter select file , but the issue of the black screen still remained no matter what i did to the sd card. it loaded files fine, the wii could pick it up and load homebrew apps from it seemingly without problem, but still the black screen right after gecko booted up the game!
my 'solution' was to prove to myself it was the sd card causing the problem by moving all of its files (of course not including the sc character one ) to another sd card. i copied over the codes, apps, textcodes, characters, stages, everything. and when i tried loading it, it worked! but- nothing from the sd card loaded into the game... it was plain old, regular brawl.
anyhoo, i apologize if this post seems redundant, or if the fix is stupidly obvious (as i seem to miss such things) but i appreciate the time anyone took to read this giant mess, and hope i can come to a solution! Smiley
a few question answerers-
1.) when i copied the files over, this did include everything, so the textcode and code files are precisely the same, which is partially why im confused on why nothing is loading
2.) ive tried various versions of the RSBE01.gct file, including the one off of this site, but they all end in the same result i mention above- nothing loads.
3.) though im not sure what could've caused it, ive unplugged my sd card and deleted everything from brawl (yes i've backups, otherwise i wouldnt be doing this) just in case, and tried loading the codes fresh. it would seem that no matter what i do, the hacks simply will not be put into the game!
[INFO UPDATE!]
so, i found another sd card laying around and put the files from the old one on it. well, when i booted it up from gecko, it actually worked! (the good parts coming, just wait) however, the battlefield stage froze when i selected it, and the game crashed. i rebooted the wii and loaded up the game from gecko to find- yet another black screen!!!
i believe these may be caused from the RSBE01 file in the codes folder, and the RSBE01 in the txtcodes folder, as whenever i replace them with any other code and txtcode file, the sd card from then on seems useless in booting brawl codes, no matter what I try (and ive tried downloading new file patches, converting those to gct's , ive tried formatting the sd card- and while it works on my laptops, and the homebrew apps load up from it, it wont load the hacks into the game...)
