the stage works when i dont add palette textures, but if i do i still get the .tmp file straight off and not the stage

i use just ASH tools. ive never heard of STASH. is that what i need to be using???

im making a stage texture for brinstar. when i try to create it, it asks if i want to add textures with palettes. i hit y for yes, but it makes a file called "uncompressed.tmp" right off and the create just stops. idk y this happens but if u can help ull be my best pal

am i supposed to do image from paint.net? cuz i tried and theres no mode. if i hit resize instead will it still work?

i just started making my own textures, and i followed this video

i have everything fine up until 5:10. right there i get a message saying:
"The final size was too big.  How to solve this:
Reduce the palette on +1 and +2
-OR-
Simplify the patterns on normal textures.


I dont know what this stuff means, so if you know can you explain it to me please
