sorry for the slow reply, I've been away.

not really sure how to send you a file, as I haven't found that option in the messages. as for the folder layout

F:\apps\riivolution\(contains boot.elf and meta.xml)
F:\codes\RSBE01.gct
F:\private\wii\app\RSBE01\pf\sound\strm\(contains T01.brstm, W17.brstm, W23.brstm, X04.brstm, and X05.brstm)
F:\riivolution\(contains codehandler.bin, ocarina.xml, and SSBBfiles.xml)

My SD card is setup as follows:
F:apps\riivolution\boot.elf
F:riivolution\ (contains Ocarina XML and Codhandler BIN and SSBBfiles.xml)
F:codes\RSBE01.gct

the gct contained a CSS code to split Zelda and Shiek and split Samus and ZSS. I think it also split the Pokemon Trainer. I'm also trying to use custom music, but I haven't figured out yet if I just need to put the songs in the folders and rename them properly, or if I also have to include a custom songs code. I found a custom songs code, so I assumed it was needed.

I had tried using Gecko OS, and the gct I used was trying to work, but crashing. I was told that because of the way Gecko works with Brawl, it would only work on a 2 GB SD card, and I have a 4, so it was suggested that I use Riivolution.

So, I've downloaded Riivolution, plus the Riivolution Ocarina XML and BIN and setup the SD card as I was instructed. I installed Riivo, and enabled Ocarina. I've tried launching Brawl using each of the different Ocarina hook options, and not a single one of them has made the gct work. I know the gct should do something, cause it showed at least some result before crashing when Gecko used it. The only thing I changed was removing the File Patch code, because I read that Riivo doesn't need that code.

Don't left-click that link. Right-click, select download.

I'm using a 4GB SD card, Gecko 1.9.3.1, though I'm thinking about Riivolution, since it can do some things Gecko can't. I followed the naming conventions I found in guides here. Like music is in private/wii/.../sounds and I changed their names to X05, X04, and so on.

I'm new to Brawl hacking, and have run into some problems right away and I spent all of last night searching and found no answers.

First, I have homebrew already and have installed the latest Gecko OS. I downloaded the Ocarina Code Manager and started finding codes I wanted to use, but when I exported to GCT, it told me I'd gone over 255 lines of code. Is there a way around this limit?

Secondly, I cut back on the number of codes and just used the File Patcher and CSS to split Samus/ZSS and Zelda/Shiek, but the CSS has 4 blank spaces. However created the code must have had four extra characters, but however compiled the codes into the "Best Codes" list that I found here didn't include codes that utilized those extra slots. The game crashes either upon entering CSS or shortly after.

Third, I set up folders for music and renamed files appropriately, according to guides I found here, but the game didn't use them, neither did it display the custom strap screen I downloaded.

So, if anyone can tell me what I need to do to correct these problems, I would be most grateful.
