1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Project Concepts / Re: Brawl 4 All *Updated to 3.5, and the Kirby patch is now available!!!* on: February 11, 2015, 11:36:52 PM
how do i get the 4gb version to work with dolphin? can anyone explain to me in a step by step basis, telling me what i need to download and how i need to set it up to work with a 4gb virtual sdcard please? thank you this is just my first 4gb hack pack ive ever used so im a complete noob

The 4gb version fails to load in Dolphin and the 2gb version doesn't load correctly either. The best we can do right now is replace the PF folder from 3.1 with the PF RSBE folder from 3.5. It works but you can only do the first set of stages of course you need to know how to load it first, look at this tutorial: http://afriendlyfox.com/2013/07/22/project-m-super-smash-bros-brawl-mod-on-the-dolphin-wii-emulator/

Gecko can only load up to 2gb SD cards, so using Gecko with a 4gb card won't work -- I'm in the same boat. I'll take a look at the 2gb version of the pack, there's a couple of things that may need to be done. There was a post a page or two back with someone who said that he figured out how to load more than 2gb in Dolphin, but the video he posted is in a different language and I couldn't translate it.

I can create more then 2gb virtual cards using a program called mksdcard and loading them in Dolphin does work, the problem I think is that Dolphin thinks it's just a regular SD card and the codes change the format to SDHC cards so it screws it up in the emulator somehow. I think what I need is just the codes files without the SDHC extension codes, but yeah I have created custom builds up to 4gb and they worked ok but I was using the project M codes in their default homebrew state.

My experience is this updated pack is pretty glitchy in Dolphin. the 4gb file refuses to load at all and the 2gb file has character select menu errors. It's strange because 3.1 ran pretty much perfectly so for now I'm using the 4 gb file but had to rip out all the RSB4 information so that it worked with the 3.1 codes. With the 4 gb first set of stages and all the fighter information it all works pretty well with the 3.1 codes just get random crashes that always say disk read error but I can usually go 5-10 matches before this happens. Geno seems to work fine, Fighter Kiby is seemingly working without crashing the game. All other characters seem to work correctly as far as I can test. Raptor's forward tilt animation sometimes glitches out on me but every other fighter I've tested seems to work fine so it's a very minor glitch all things considered. Also I haven't found any stages or such that refuse to load with using the first 4gb set of stages.

I think Dolphin is just an entirely different beast and some codes that the Wii accepts don't work at all on Dolphin. I think the reason Project M 3.5 works flawlessly is that it was tested on Dolphin 4.0.2. and they squashed all the bugs related to emulation before release.

Anyways I'll keep testing my cobbled together version but as always this is still the best BrawlEx pack I've found even if I can't use all of it's features correctly as of right now.

Alright, I'm going to try to updated official 3.5 2gb version and see if I can get it to work in Dolphin.

Ok the downside is I couldn't get 3.5 to work with the dual roster code and 4gb file code, the good news is that I was able to merge all the normal data from the normal RSBE file and fit it into only 1.4GB. It seems to be functioning normally except that it only has the first set of 79 stages but it works at least with an updated roster and the entire first set of stages. I messed around trying to get the second set of stages to load but keep getting hit with invalid read errors. I suppose I just don't have the right codes for that but at least I can still use this without the dual stage roster. I guess for now Dolphin just can't deal with the Dual stage roster code.

Well can't get the 4gb version to work in Dolphin, I suppose I'll wait for the 2gb version and see if that works.

The game freezes up when I try to play as Fighter Kirby. Has anyone else encountered this or is it a problem with my game?

I'll let you know when I install it. The download is estimated to take me like 8 hours from now though. I use Dolphin though so I might encounter glitches that might not happen on a real Wii (and certain things might work fine that is broken on a real Wii)

Yay, downloading now. It's going to take awhile because mediafire is so slow but at least I'll get it eventually...
9  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Project Concepts / Re: Brawl 4 All *We're releasing what we have Feb 7th! Also NEW POLL ON ITEMS* on: February 07, 2015, 05:20:14 PM
i finsihed the sonic/shadow fusion but it only has differetn specials. do you want that? or do you want to wait to see if i can add in a new FS for shadow and smashes and what not. or that could be added in later in an update.

Pretty sure you should finish it first so that it's as identical as possible to the already existing shadow psa. Of course I'm not Nebulon but I think he's going to upload his current pack in like 1 hour which means it probably won't be available to download until probably after midnight easter standard time.

Anyways I'm pretty excited, first pack to feature 103 playable characters and 156 stages so yeah that's pretty cool.

So I put all that on the SD card, how do I find it on the Wii. I did what Project M usually does and nothing happened, and just went to melee, no new ppl, what now? Eveyrthing that was inside " All CHARS " folder stay in there also? D I need Homebrew? Also what do I do with Text Document? Can Homebrew work as of 2015?

Your not loading it right for sure. You have to delete your old files and then load with gecko but you need to install homebrew first to install the gecko channel then launch brawl from that. I'm not sure if this supports the hackless method.

I know how to instal Homebrew, but what do I do with the Nebulon Rar. I have the following: ALL CHARS(WinRAR), Features for Brawl 4 All(Text Document), Fit.Roy.pac(PAC File), Read meNO SERIOUSLYRead me(Text document), what do I do with all this?

The folder that is inside All chars should go to your SD card with the Apps/BootMii/Codes ect go into the base of your SD card and keep all the subfolders the same. Then go into Private/Wii/App/RSBE/PF/Fighter/Roy and put the Fit.Roy.Pac file in that folder.

Hopefully those instructions are clear enough.

As for Nebulon I'm glad your releasing soon, I look forward to seeing the new stuff. As for items two completely different sets would be cool. I don't use items much but variety with items is always good.

As for Fusions go, maybe Snake/Mastercheif/Batman. Something like that is cool. Pit/Issac might be a good idea as well also mabye Zero/Saki of course I'm not sure what is actually possible with fusions and not even sure if PSA's exist to make those yet.

How do I get this onto the Wii? Do I just put the " All Char " folder into the SD card and put it into the wii or what? Please help!

You need to install homebrew channel and install gecko, I recommend using smash stack for smash bros brawl as you already have the disk and Wii anyways if you want to hack smash bros.

As for Nebulon waiting paitently for your pack to come out. Looking forward to it. But I still play a lot of Project M and a merger of Brawl Infinite Stages and your Characters. Works pretty good except a few stages randomly glitch out and a few crashes happen occasionally if I don't exit out of the CSS every match.
13  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Project Concepts / Re: Brawl 4 All *UPDATE STATEMENT in OP. And a poll about SD cards* on: January 31, 2015, 12:06:03 PM
Some stages in this pack freeze the game randomly on any version.
It is wierd, but it commonly happens the first times you play them and with certain characters.

IDK how to use Dolphin, but to use SD card with more than 2GB you'll need the SDHC Extension code.
I've only tested it with SDHC cards (because of the name), but I believe you can use it with other cards.

Ok I got Dolphin working with 4GB now although technically I could create a sd file of any size as long as it's not bigger then the free space I have on my computer I just used this tutorial and linked file and it worked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI5JEwVRHso

Although note that you have to have less then 2GB of free space left on the raw file or else Dolphin won't apply the hack codes correctly. This is good news though meaning Dolphin users can now use any size SD cards and you don't need the SD card extension file either. Just use regular loading method for Project M and it works fine. I'm not sure exactly how it works on a Wii as mine broke a few years ago and I've just been using Dolphin lately: Make sure to use a current Dev build at least this month or newer.

Edit: By regular I mean the regular Dolphin homebrew boot.elf loading method as described here:  http://afriendlyfox.com/2013/07/22/project-m-super-smash-bros-brawl-mod-on-the-dolphin-wii-emulator/

Post Merge: January 31, 2015, 06:56:34 PM
Anyways looking forward to your next version of this mod. Hope you are done with it soon. If you aren't going to finish it soon can you at least upload the current pack?
14  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Project Concepts / Re: Brawl 4 All *UPDATE STATEMENT in OP. And a poll about SD cards* on: January 30, 2015, 12:34:00 PM
I'm using Dolphin right now and I only know how to get it working using 2gb virtual cards or under. Do you know of anyway I can make a 4gb raw sd card file?

Also for some unknown reason the stage Asteroids always crashes my game in all builds not just yours (Dolphin issue?). If you can replace it with a more stable stage that would be great.
