I'm new to this whole hacking thing, but I really wanted to try out haloedhero's Scott Pilgrim PSA. I followed the Complete Noob's Guide up to the point of successfully installing Smash Stack and Gecko on my SD card. I added the NTSC-U code as well.

I made properly-named folders for each character under the "fighter" folder and copied over the Lucas files from the Scott Pilgrim download. With all this done, I put my SD card into my Wii, but the game froze as soon as I got to the stage selection screen after running Gecko.

I'm clearly missing something here. Does it have something to do with the Scott Pilgrim folder called "CSS Stuff?" If so, what do I do with the files in that folder? I haven't figured out what to do with that yet. If that's not it, do I have to add the original files for every other character as well?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, if you used smash stack, delete the file in the "st" folder.

When I open the st folder, all I get is a .bin file. When I deleted that, I couldn't even run Gecko any more. I added the .bin file back to the st folder and was able to get to the same point as before: The game still freezes when I get to the stage selection screen.

Am I supposed to open the .bin file somehow?

I'd suggest ONLY using the hack itself for now (By this I mean, don't add the other stuff, JUST this:

    ROOT:Private\Wii\APP\RSBE\Pf\Fighter\Lucas

In there, put the files that are supposed to be there:

    FitLucas.pac
    FitLucasMotionEtc.pac
    FitLucasEntry.pac
    FitLucas00.pac
    FitLucas00.pcs
    FitLucas01.pac
    FitLucas01.pcs
    ...
    FitLucas05.pac
    FitLucas05.pcs

And now see if it freezes.

That's how I originally had it. I never added the Victory Theme, CSS, or Recolors folders. I just tried it again and I was able to start a match, but I was still playing as regular Lucas. The game froze about 20 seconds after starting the match.

Should I post screenshots of my SD card files to see where I'm going wrong?

Sure. It'd be good to know everything that's in your SD.

Also, which app are you using? Gecko?

    I'm using Gecko.

    Here's the SD card's root:

    The "RSBE" folder:

    The "ST" folder:

    The "PF" folder:

    The "fighter" folder:

    Finally, the "Lucas" folder:

Am I missing something, or maybe there's something in the wrong place?

Mm, make sure the FitLucas0x.pac files are not compressed. If they are, you can open them up in BrawlBox, make them undo the lz77 compression (or whatever it was) and save your file.

...Ah, there was a code you're recommended to use with the moveset:
    Scott (Lucas) has no tether

Which codes are you using in that GCT inside "Codes"?

    Also, why the ST folder?

The code I used was something I found at Smashboards, but in retrospect, I don't remember what it was for. Here's the topic from which I got it:

    http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=233971

Is the ST folder not necessary? Should I just delete it? I'm pretty certain Gecko wouldn't run when I tried deleting the ST folder before.

Also, where does the "no tether" code go?

I'm sorry for being a total moron when it comes to programming and such :c

Edit: I opened the FitLucas0x.pac files in Brawlbox and under Compression they all said None. However, the .pcs files were compressed. Should they not be?

    PCS should be compressed.
    PAC shouldn't.

"st" is the folder for stages made in stage builder.

You insert that code using the code manager, which you can find on the resources page.

The st folder and it's contents are what loads the .elf file, don't delete it.

Install the homebrew channel if you haven't yet by using the boot.elf included and follow the intructions on how to use it, put gecko into the HBC and delete the .bin file. That should fix it.
