I'm trying to replace the sounds and voices for my "full character" hacks like Knuckles or Lloyd. I have the Hex files and a brsar and I could swear I was following the instructions on the Read Me exactly as they're written, but the results seem to say otherwise.
Can anyone provide any insight for me please? BTW I'm a total n00b at this kind of stuff so I'll more than likely need tons of specificity.

Maybe you have the same problem than me. In fact as I have a japanese Brsar, I can't use hex packets of this forum because they were made for US brsar. If you don't have a US brsar, maybe it is why this doesn't work.

What kind of results do you get when trying to change the Japanese brsar? I'm getting results they're just random screechy noises and game crashes.

When I tried to put an hex packet of voices of a character of this forum, in my japanese brsar, if I follow up exactly the tutorial of Stickman and replace the same sound, the game crashed. Because as it is a japanese brsar, the offsets are not the same than in Stickman's tutorial. But when you put an hex packet for voices of a character taking care of the japanese offsets, there are some results. You can have the voice work correctly, but the sound effects disappear. Or the voice can disappear too leaving the sound effects. Anyway, it is not good to use an hex packet of this forum if you have a japanese brsar unless it is said this hex packet is made for japanese brsar.

Hmmm that might be it then. I'm gonna have to figure out where I can find a guaranteed American version then. Or just accept Knuckles yelling PIKA! and Lloyd making Wolf's various sounds.

If it is an american version of smashbros sound.brsar that you search, you should take a look at the ressources of this forum, in data partition you should be able to find it.

I checked it earlier and there's a smashbros_sound.7z file and one called DBTSUGO_JP.brsar or something like that. I'm not sure which of those is the proper file though. The filesizes don't seem to match the one I already have. Any idea?

Take smash bros sound.7z. It is the file you need I think. I know the size doesn't match the one you have, but once you will have done the extraction, the size will change and will be the same as the one you have.

Alright I got the correct file, created a backup, and applied changes. I won't be able to test till tomorrow morning but thanks for the help.
EDIT: Nevermind I just tested it and it works perfectly. Thanks again.
