Hey KC-MM!

Got a little question here, I just recently started vertex modding thanks to some thread around here, using MK64n's method if I'm not wrong. So I started on something, making myself for brawl to be exact, and modified a .pac with MK64n's method. I was all done and stuff, but then remembered the .pac came with a .pcs.. What's the difference between those two and do I need to mod both for it to take effect in-game? Modding Link and Toon Link if that's of some use 'cause I've read that the shapeshifting characters need both of them to work.

.pac is mainly for single player modes, .pcs is for multiplayer modes

Most characters only need .pcs to work, but characters that transorm (Bowser/Wario/Zelda/Sheik) need both .pac and .pcs or else they will revert back to their original costumes after transforming.

Okay.. But the content of both is the same right? In Brawlbox that is.. So can I just save a .pcs as .pac or am I mistaking? O:

    Yes, you can.
When saving as a .pac though, it is best to decompress it first.

Open the texture in brawlbox and it should be clicked on the Fit[Character] bit at the top, on the right click where it says LZ77 then select None from the drop down list and save it. The filesize should go up if done correctly because it is no longer compressed

I'm pretty sure I've played single player with a Mario texture that didn't have any .pac files. It was Home Run Contest if I recall correctly. The texture turned out fine and everything.

That's because HRC uses .pcs files. It's SSE  that uses .pac files mostly.

Or use the LZ77 converter i have: http://www.mediafire.com/?ctwyznzmnym

Just extract and place it in a folder if the RAR doesn't contain a folder. Then just drop the .pcs files onto the .exe and let it run, DO NOT CLOSE THAT WINDOW! After it's done it's produced a .pcs.out, rename it into a .pac and it's done.

Note: I did NOT make that program.
