Author Topic: Need help setting up my mods on RiiVolution  (Read 8093 times)

I've been trying to create Animation hacks and PSA hacks for some time and so far i've been able do make them work on Gecko. When i've learned that i couldnt use Sfx hacks on Gecko, i decided to change to RiiVolution, but im having trouble finding the xml files that i've read that i need, and knowing exactly on which folders i must place my Motion.pac hacks, BRSAR hacks and PSA hacks. Also, i've been finding tutorials with diferent xml's that tell me to add my files to diferent folders, some of them even saying that i dont need to put the codehandler on my SD card, and it's been very confusing to know which xml must i use.
I've looked for some tutorials and guides here on KC and other sites, but all i menaged to do is to make Riivolution freeze on the startup blackscreen when i run my Sfx hack, and freeze on CSS when i load texture, psa or animation hack, when they worked almost perfectly on Gecko (ocasional freezes, sometimes they wouldnt load on training mode, causing brawl's original files to be loaded).
I would like to know exactly which xml's must i use for a specific version of Riivolution, and what are the folders i must create and place my mods on, and also, do my hack's filesize could have anything to do with them not working on Riivolution, even though they worked on Gecko?

    Place your hacks in: "\brawlmods\pf\"
    You can either place your hacks in subfolders just like when you used Gecko,
    or you can just place your hacks anywhere as long as It's in the "pf" folder.
    And if you wanna use codes, you need to place the codehandler.bin in the "riivolution" folder.
    Then you place the code file in "\codes" (named "RSBX.gct" where "X" corresponds to your region)

    To use this script, its ok if i copy and paste it on word, then save as xml? If so, how must i name it?

    I menaged to be able to open Brawl with my hacks, but it always crashes when i select ike on the Character Select Screen(note: i've ONLY modified ikes FitIke00.pac, FitIkeMotion.pac, FitIke.pac and the Sfx file) i tried disabling all my hacks, then loading one by one and they all froze on the css screen. Help? =(

    Did you use BeyondYou's hack?  If not then I have no idea what went wrong.  Most everything stays the same for BeyondYou's Riivolution (as in yes you'll have to switch your mods back to private/wii).  You'll have to put your RSBE01 in your pf folder tho.

    Weird, does that happen when you don't use hacks at all?

    If that xml won't work, I've uploaded a (tested and working) xml + folders to place on your SD/USB:

    Just download and extract the 3 folders to the root of your SD/USB.
    Then move your hacks to "brawlmods\pf", and place your codefile in "codes" named "RSBE.gct".

    But remember that there are some specific files that has a "_en" extension in the file name
    (the File Patch Code that you used with gecko removed that extension).

    That XML has alot of issues with loading files. I strongly suggest you use BeyondYou's XML.

    Place the XML file in the root of your SD in a folder called "Riivolution", not where you store the eboot of Riivo itself in the Apps folder. Then go onto the Riivo Wiki and download the codehandler XML so that you can run codes with Riivo. Make sure when you open Riivo that you set the code set to IV, and not anything else.

    Followed the instructions on BeyondYou's readme, and when i loaded riivolution, i had the option to turn on Brawl w/ codes and change the "hook", i set the hook to VI, still froze on CSS D=
    Any ideas?

    Edit:

    I tried loading separate files to see which of them would crash the game

    All my ike hacks crashed the game, while Sfx replacement did not freeze on the CSS, it didnt affect the sounds i've changed (even though i tested the BRSAR on smashbox as instructed on

    Maybe it has something to do with whats inside my private folder? I ended up deleting my old private folder by accident, so the only things that are inside it are the "private\wii\app\RSBE\pf\fighter\ike" folder with my ike hacks, and "private\wii\app\RSBE\pf\sounds" with the BRSAR file.

    All you do is hit launch. Change nothing.

    Brawl w/ codes and Hook -> IV were the default settings, i didnt change them.
