common3.pac freezing game

I recently decided to add some item textures in the game,
but when i add the common3 file, it freezes the game during the wristband instruction screen.
Then when I delete it from the SD card, it works again.
I have searched everywhere on how to resolve this,
but I can't find anything.
I could really use some assistance.
Everything will be much obliged.

I am using Gecko.
I have Riivolution, but have not figured out how to use it.

I just checked my common3's file size and it is 4.8mb

1. Download this Riivolution.. It's Beyond's (formerly BeyondYou)

Replace the Riivolution folder in the root of your SD card with the one in the download... Make sure that your RSBE01.gct does NOT have Phantomwings file patch code... It can have other codes in it though.... but if it has Phantomwings code, it will freeze... The ReadMe will explain what you need to do.

You'll see "SSBB File Types" in bold yellow letters... right under that it says "Tip", then below that it says "File Types", then below that it says "Tools and Software"... Click the "Show" button next to "Tools and Software".... and download BrawlBox v0.63b.... Chances are your problem stemmed from using v0.63d.... 0.63d messes up the common3 and common5.pac's during file compression.

When you launch Beyond's riivolution... DON'T CHANGE ANY SETTINGS... just click launch.

4.8 Mb shouldn't be causing a file size issue, the unedited Common3 is 4.81 Mb.  it may be the item itself.  i've ran into that a few times, where the file size is just fine, but it still froze. 

what were you putting over which item?  and was it one that you made yourself?

Adjusting texture palettes so that they use less colors can help.

I changed almost all of them.
Should I try using less and seeing what happens?

yeah, try replacing one at a time until you find the one that causes the freezing.  it could be that there is more than one that causes a freeze, hence why i say one at a time.  it may be a little tedious, but at least then you'll be able to get most of them in.

ok, i did it and found out that it was the maxim tomato that was causing the trouble
