Yeah, I'm sure. The melee ducks are pretty objectively terrible. The models themselves don't look all that great, but more importantly, they have horrible edge flow. And each one is 8000 triangles! To make those models usable, I'd have to strip down the polygons by like 90% at least (these things need to go over the pikmin, after all), then I'd have to T-Pose them, which, considering their terrible, terrible edge flow, would not be fun.

Meanwhile I can model, uv, rig and texture a low-poly duck in a couple hours tops. So yeah, custom ducks all the way.

right on brotha

plus I bet the melee duck's UVs are probably unusable

After two successful edited model imports, I'm doing my first full custom import. So I've reached back into the annals of Nintendo's history....

Hehehe.
Instantly thought of If Video Games Were Real by Smosh, with the Ian playing a Policeman who is yelling at these guys shooting that dog for laughing at them, and then shoots at it when it pops up from behind a bush. xD
I've actually never played Duck Hunt, a friend of mine did have the Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt catridge like 10 years ago, but I had only played the Super Mario Bros part. lol Need to play this game. xD
I make YouTube videos, SM64 hacks, Brawl Hacks (obviously), NSMBW hacks, and GoldenEye 007 Mods. I also have a short attention span and tend to switch around a lot and put things on hold. But when I do finish things, 95% of the time I gave 120% effort, the other 5% of the time I give 100% effort.

Nice models. I look forward to a new Marisa.
I only don't care about Ran because she never lets me beat her and I can hardly ever even reach her. /:

Custom ducks. It's honestly faster to just make new ones from scratch than to try and salvage the melee trophy models.
I fully support your making of custom dog and ducks.

Gray Fox is way too shiny.

I can fix him up with Spec maps if you want ;)

Just a smallish update. I was hoping to fit the ducks more on the pikmin's skeleton, but the proportions don't work, so it look's like they'll only have leg movement (though I'm gonna bind the head to the antenna joint and see how it looks).

Also, does anyone know what the file size limit is for the pikmin? They're only about 180 tris, and these ducks are sitting at about 230 each right now. If I can get away with adding more detail, I'd like to.

Oh god, please tell me it's going over Wario.

After giving it some thought, I've decided he's a pretty good fit for Wario, too. So once the Olimar version is done, I'm putting him over Wario.

yes yes yaw i love that low poly ducks!

I'll probably get the Wario version, cuz Olimar's been replace with Roy :P

Looks more like a Marth-like body type to me.

I said that because of his mouth, but now that I look at his proportions he's definitely suited to Olimar, heh. Looking forward to both versions.

I think it should be up to Panda, Ph.D. to decide.

(Though I'd say Ike)

I didn't even think of Wario until you mentioned him. I decided to do this dog because I was looking for someone to put over Olimar. But now I can't get the image of him doing Wario's laughing animation out of my head, so he'll be going on both. And the proportions of the model are easily adapted.
