For very detailed characters such as Galleom and Duon, I need to know how to color in their parts without removing the details.

Like say, put white on Duon's Wheel without making it look like a cartoon wheel.

If there is a way to do this in GIMP, please tell me step by step instructions.
If this requires another program, please send it to me with instructions.

Both Galleom and Duon require indexed palettes for ALL (except WpnDuonBeam) of their texture parts.  Fortunately, you can index the textures with The GIMP when using BrawlBox.  In fact, The GIMP is easier to use than Photoshop in most cases.

Anyway, if you only want to select certain areas of a texture to recolor, you need to choose the proper tools, such as the Fuzzy Select Tool, the Select by Color Tool, and the Rectangle Select Tool.  You can then go to the Colors menu and choose either Colorize or Hue-Saturation.

To finish up, you need to index the textures, like I said earlier.  You need to access the Image menu, then access Mode, and choose Indexed....  All Galleom texture parts use a maximum of 256 colors, but some of Duon's texture parts may use a smaller palette; WpnDuonBomb and WpnDuonLaser.

Now, on a side note, NONE of Galleom's texture parts can be transparent.  And even though Duon's texture parts accept transparent colors, only the EnmDuonB texture uses transparency.

Hint: Textures that use an RGB565 palette do not accept transparent colors.  Textures that use an RGB5A3 palette do accept transparent colors.

For some references, you can look at the snapshots of my textures.
