what do you mean power of 2? like 2*2*2*2*2 = 32 or something else?

Yeah, powers of 2.
Sizes like 256x256, 512x512, etc work but things like 354x435 don't.
And if you've tried assigning the palettes in the MLD0 itself and it's not working, I'd recommend trying to import the textures as CMPR and removing the palette references from the MDL0.
