This is a project I worked on today. I wanted Battlefield to be darker and more Final Destination-ish. The only problem I'm having is changing the sky. The skyBG file is just a simple white-to-black gradient and whenever I try to use an image file instead, the file size is too big (even though the file remains the same size as before). Any tips on how to edit the sky?

Anyway, here's what I have so far:

Updates (7/8/09):

I have finished most of the texture. I just need critiques and suggestions at this point. But this is what I did:

I added a new sky. It's a starry night sky, so the map is pretty much in perpetual night. However, i can't stop the daylight changes at all, so while nighttime looks great, daytime looks like a very bright evening. So to remedy that, I added a big moon, akin to the Luigi's mansion map, so that way, during the bright daytime, it'll look like the light in the background is from the moon. This way it doesn't look so random. The best part is, aside from the moon moving position every now and then due to the changes in time, the moon is seen through the whole cycle and changes depending on the day as well, and each time of day makes it look as nice as ever. I'll let you see for yourself.

Time order: Morning, Noon, Sunset, Midnight.

Updates (7/8/09):

I'm finished! All that's left are for you all to critique and let me know if you want any changes! I also fixed the platform colors to match the bottom area!

Finished product:

Looks badass. I would suggest maybe stealing some textures from Final Destination if you want it to have a more FD look. Love the colors though!

Really nice. The sparkly circle thing on the ground fits in well with the rock/gem look.

    Thanks.

I'm debating wheter or not to change the platform texture. It seemed cool at first but something doesn't sit right with me.

Also, I really want to change that sky. >.<

Looks nice. You're Kagato from VGD, aren't you? Long time no see.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the finished stage and a download. =)

maybe take that pattern on the ground of the stage and reproduce on a smaller scale on the platforms if the diamond shape look you have doesn't suit you. Tongue

I suppose I can do that. It might look better.

So, does anyone here know how to change the sky?

Yeah. I'm finished with everything else. I just need to figure out how to edit the sky and perhaps the water as well, and then I can release it.
