So I'm very new to hacking Brawl, but I have a good understanding of what I need to do for what I'm attempting. But for some reason, every time I make any sort of change to Bowser's moves, his Up, Down, and Side Special moves glitch (oddly his Neutral-Special isn't affected). More specifically, when I use a Special, Bowser just repeats the last animation that he's done. Like, say I try to use the Bowser Bomb (Down-Special), Bowser won't do it, he'll just keep crouching.
It does this no matter what I edit. The unaltered files I use for a base work fine. But as soon as I change something, say, his Forward-Smash, his Special moves glitch. Can someone tell me what's going on? And what can I do to fix this?

Then i recommend you to download and use PSA. I never had such issue with this program.

It's a problem with the Motion Etc. Smash Attacks can't edit Motion Etc. I'd also like to avoid using Project Smash Attacks, as it's not very user-friendly...

If you're using Brawlbox v0.67b to make simple edits of Bowser's moveset, it will lose his specials. The same thing happens to some other characters like Samus. You will need to use Smash Attacks to make simple edits of the moves if you're not making a completely new PSA over Bowser.

I couldn't guess you were talking about animations ! Try with Brawlbox v0.65, this is what i always use to animate. I changed Bowser's special B and everything worked perfectly.

Okay, weird. I tried to change the Bowser Bomb to a new move, something quite similar to an immobile version of the Whirling Fortress, but it still doesn't work. Am I missing some kind of link between Bowser and the player's controller? An activator of some kind?

Editing animations is not enough (some people believe that it is), especially when you make a new move over an existing one. You have to edit also the FitKoopa.pac. And again, i recommend you to use PSA for this as brawlbox isn't 100% safe.

Random crash in game after editing and can't open anymore with PSA a .pac modified by Brawlbox. But things may have changed as what i said above happened like... more than 6 months ago.
