Replacing Character Model Data With Tropies?

Is it possible to extract the model data from a Trophy, take away the Trophy Stand, and replace the a character? If so, how? That would be really useful, and could allow tow-dimensional characters, such as Paper Mario.

The bones and body parts on them wont produce any good results. It is possible to replace them but they won't move at all.
