well, i don't think enough people would admit they are noobs, then crap will hit the fan when a noobish question is asked in the non noob forum but that's just my opinion (mine doesn't matter much anyway )

If people want a thread for "noobs" then they can title it something that gives general help to newcomers. If not, help threads should be made with more specialized topics.

This is true, people wouldn't want to post in the n00b section, but we could set up some kind of limitation so you have to do a certain thing to be able to post in the other help section. that probably isn't nessicary though..

I don't think it's necessary. If there's a very ambitious new hacker on the forums, it would be stupid to limit him from asking questions only because he's new, even when he has a valid question. In reality, all that needs to be done is to make sure that people post in the appropriate forums; everything else falls into place without a problem if this is done.

I still would like the on-topic devision though, I'm getting sick of productive threads being bumped by pointless ones

What is wrong with this site's search function? I've used it to search for hacks such as Banjo (Mario Texture) and Facility (custom stage), and the search brought up nothing, yet they do exist and with those exact same names... And yes I entered it in the correct fields.
Also, we need a board for asking questions in regards to the site's functionality (not Brawl Vault's), such as my question above. Every forum I've been to has a board for that, so I was surprised to see none here.

There's no forum for it because there really isn't anything most of the staff can do to fix / add functionality. I'm the only one that has ever even attempted site edits.
Also, as far as your search issues go... seems Brawl Vault still has a problem with url-escaped character searched. (Meaning, anything starting A-F will have issues)

No but I mean like just simple questions about the site to help someone understand something? Or should they just be PMed to you? Also, I see; that's strange. I've never encountered a problem like that with other searches before.

Eh... might be a good idea to make a general help topic then --- though, it's likely to get overlooked. Also, yeah it is weird... I'm not sure if it's a problem with our server itself or not but $_GET and the others have problems urldecoding. It should only interpret the first 2 characters after a percent sign... but it seems to go until it encounters either another percent or G on up. Anyway... I added a small fix + a major code rewrite --- hope it doesn't bork something else.

Small fix and major code rewrite for what? The search?

Just curious, but I noticed the Karma was gone; did you remove it or something or are you working on something?

Because most people don't have Java on their computer.
And for some reason installing it doesn't solve the problem.
That or I'm just an idiot...
