So I've been trying to switch from Gecko to Riivolution. I installed BeyondYou's Riivolution for Gecko Users and ran it without any Smash Bros Mods, but it gave me a black screen every time I tried to load the game. I turned off the Hook and XML settings, but then it just froze at the wrist strap screen. I read up a little and made sure my sd card wasn't locked, but even so, it still gave me the wrist strap freeze.
Last night, I reformatted and put the Project M Riivolution files on my SD card, but the same thing happened. A black screen, regardless of the settings.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I remember that the first time I loaded it up, Riivolution told me that it had to reinstall iOS 37, but I've done that a few times via Multi Mod Manager, and nothing's changed. I was really hoping to use Riivolution so that I could change the cutscenes, audio, and a few other things, but it doesn't seem to want to work.
So I'm both a big fan of Brawl modding and DC Comics, and with the Young Justice video game coming out in september, I thought of how awesome it would be to take those characters and make a brawl game out of them! Not only are the character designs my absolute favorite of any DC property, but I think it would be awesome to bring their powers to life under the brawl engine.
I've learned how to import fairly well, but it would be awesome to have help! Of course, the project wouldn't begin until the game is released, but until then, I'll be practicing importing on various DC superheroes via DCUO and other games. I'll also be figuring out how to rip the models, music, and areas from the game as soon as it's released.
Effectively, this project is going to be a step by step thing, with little goals that help us achieve the ultimate goal: building a complete game, fairly separate from Super Smash Bros. aside from running on its engine (And Subspace Emissary. No one can change that as far as I know). And if for whatever reason we don't achieve it, that's okay too, at least we'll have made resources that others can use for superhero games and such!
So... here're the types of people I'm really going to need:
Moveset designers - I have no experience with movesets whatsoever, so having even one would be absolutely amazing!
People who are good with sawnds - I can rip the sounds from the game, but I don't know how to put them in at the moment. Finding someone to do this would help a lot.
Riggers/Skin Weighters - If you take a look at my importing experiments so far, you can tell that I'm not the best with the skin weights tool. Or maybe it's 3DS Max. Either way, my models typically end up with glitches. I would need people to both combine meshes with brawl skeletons and who have enough knowledge to help me learn how to do it better so I can fix said glitches.
Graphics Designers - I'm fairly good with graphics atm, but it would be cool to have someone help design menu buttons, title screen stuff, character selection screen images, etc.
Update -Here's the list of characters that are currently confirmed to be in the game:
Nightwing Superboy Mrs. Martian Aqualad Kid Flash Artemis Zatanna Tempest Beast Boy Robin Rocket Batgirl Batman Superman Green Lantern Wonder Woman Red Tornado Black Canary Lex Luthor Sportsmaster Cheshire Icicle Jr. Killer Frost Black Manta Psimon Riddler Blockbuster Bane Klarion (Most likely Catwoman. I'm just waiting for it to be Catwoman.)
And if I think of anything else, I'll add it in! Luckily, we have plenty of time until September to find out what else we'll need to do and plan who goes over who. I'll add in a list of YJ: Legacy characters as soon as I can and hopefully I'll be able to find like minded people to assist with it! If not, that's okay too. I'm totally willing to work by myself.
Thank you so much for reading this much! If you can think of any things I haven't thought of regarding doing this project, please reply, I'd love to hear them.
I've been working on a brawl hack for a little while now and I've stumbled upon a few weird bugs that I can't quite figure out how to fix. Maybe someone on here can help me, because I've spent hours trying to figure out how to fix this:
1. Super Smash Bros. Outline on Title Screen
I replaced the Super Smash Bros Logo with another logo that I made myself within the Smash Bros. title screen, and then made sure to replace all of the related files with transparency in their various dimensions. However, when I play the game, there's still a black outline saying Super Smash Bros. that is over my inserted logo. I've triple checked the textures to make sure that I didn't miss one, but the shadow still remains. How could I fix this?
2. Only applies one texture to the model
I am importing Static from Static Shock over Marth over Rob, and the model is fully rigged and works well. However, when I import it, it only applies one of the two textures onto his mesh, so that his skin is covered by his jacket texture, rather than his skin and icon texture. I renamed the texture file inside of the model file in the .pac and .pcs to match the skin texture, and it changes it, but then the jacket texture isn't applied. I made sure that the model looks fine in 3ds max before I exported it. It's kind of hard to explain, so I'll upload the .pac so that you might be able to preview the model inside and see what I mean.
3. One particular texture appears as black within imported model
I also imported the Riddler from Batman over luigi, and while he works great and plays great, there's a black rectangle on his tie where a question mark should be. I've made sure that the model looks fine in 3ds max before I export it as a .dae and put it into brawl, but that texture is always blacked out. Is there a small thing that I need to change in brawlbox to make it work correctly?
Here are the two character files that I'm talking about, so that maybe you can see what I'm talking about better:
That usually happens when a vert is weighted to the XRotN, YRotN... and any of their parent bones. Check those verts and make sure they aren't influenced by them at all.
I made sure to go over my rigging and make sure that every bone aside from the Knee and Leg bones were affecting those areas, but nothing has changed. Is there anything else that it could be?
I have been trying to learn how to model import, and after following tutorials, have been successfully able to rig the imported models in 3ds max and put them into brawl. However, when I do...
...this happens. When I move around, the stretchiness moves in relation to the center of the stage.
I've edited the rigged models multiple times, but the stretchiness isn't going away, no matter how I rig them. I am new to rigging for brawl. Is there something that I am forgetting to do?
I have been trying to put a custom stage select screen in brawl. It has been working fine up until today, when I put in a few more images. When I loaded the sss, it froze the game. I checked the filesize and it was 1.16 MB, so I started putting in .jpeg versions of all of my images to cut the filesize by a lot. When I was finished, I looked at my saved file and it was 1.17 MB. How did it increase in size when I just put in smaller files?
Alright. So I need to get Marth's original .pac, motion, etc. files and put them in, and then replace them with Neku's. What lines of Hex code do I need to replace? Is there a guide for it?
Sorry to Bump, but I really need help. I put in the .rel file that I found and the IC Constants code but it freezes when I load it. Is Lucas able to be cloned with Marth?
I would like to replace Lucas with a Neku texture and vortex edit for Marth. However, I can't find the IC Constant code and I found marth's .rel file within the default brawl files and found the ic constants code. Should this work when I try it?
I had a quick question about using PAC files that are intended for one character on another. In particular, using the PSA here: (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=23454) on Pit (A Sora texture for Pit) Is this possible, or will there be problems with the moveset? Thanks, Nami
I just recently changed the in-battle character names and a few of the in-battle icons behind the portraits. Now, when I load the game, it stays black after Now Loading. I checked to make sure that my in-battle icons were the right sizes, and corrected the ones that weren't, but it's still giving me the same problem. What could the problem be?
