I released Wolf:

Zelda: Perfect

Charizard: I don't think there's much of an option to change the color scheme too drastically, so we'll just have to live with the similarity. Other than maybe slightly increasing the saturation on the red I'd call it a deal.

That Zelda I like <3. I agree with TaikoMang on what to change. The prior, black gloves could work or another tone of beige.
It's gonna be hard to make a Mars Wolf that differs from P:M's Red Wolf since it's already Mars-like

I didn't look at P:M Wolf before making this one, but they're indeed quite similiar in general color distribution:

Different enough for me, though.

More shots of Mars Wolf:

By the way, who's still not taken for Mars? I might have an attempt at one.

I updated Shun's list from a few pages ago:

Mars Snake - Dio
Mars G&W - Apples
Mars Zelda - Shun
Mars Sheik
Mars Falco - Multiple versions worked on
Mars Wolf - Badge
Mars Ice Climbers - Silver
Mars Diddy Kong
Mars Link
Mars Charizard
Mars Sonic - Silver

Link was being worked on once, but I don't know if he still is.

Tbh I don't like the style of that Zelda, I'd prefer the skirt to be red and possibly the sleeves beige and according changes to everything else. That would throw the whole design out of the window, though, so it'd be material for an alternate version at best.

Just a quick Wolf mockup:
Maybe a little dark.

Wolf's up.

There appear black areas beneath the fur on Wolf's head whenever I replace the face texture with even just an unchanged export of itself via BB, that I wasn't able to get rid of. They're not noticable during gameplay, but if anybody knows how to make them disappear please do tell me. (the Project:M team managed, I don't know if someone else did)

I changed the pauldron after comparing it with my draft, now I'm pretty satisfied with Wolf:

Maritime Wolf:

Olimar's looking good.

I'm using Gimp and just split all the textures into layers making sure they're all named clearly and looking good, so I can then just use the colorize, hue-saturation and brightness tools to finish the texture. I then make a copy of the .xcf-files for every texture and duplicate any layers before editing, if I expect to make any changes. I then most of the time start again with the original layer when I make any non-minor revisions, which doesn't really take longer than changing the old one and prevents any quality es due to too many edits.

I'll still do Maritime Wolf btw, I just had like no time at all in the last week. I'll try to get an ingame version done by next week.

Apples' Falco: I like the white feathers, but I feel the texture as a whole is a bit too pale at the moment. I'd suggest to just make all the red darker and more saturated.

Oh and yeah, I love those new G&Ws.

So, can i upload my Mars Falco to the Vault already?
Just because multiple versions are okay, doesn't mean you should get sloppy. Not saying you are, but being impatient to release a texture is a good way to get there. The textures that took the most work now often are among the best textures in the project, imo. And the number of both minor revisions and total revamps some textures went through is astonishing.

I myself liked your second Falco best. It's also the most distinct towards the other two versions, so I think it'd be the most worthy of a seperate release. Still there were suggestions for minor changes for all of them, which you didn't seem to take notice of - you don't have to revamp the whole texture everything you change something. If you really don't want to put any more effort into it, go ahead and upload what you have, but while it isn't bad, I see potential to make it even better. Putting the efforts of many together to get the best possible results is the core of this project's success and what makes it as fun as it is in my eyes.

Like, maybe try to change the color of the collar to a tone of white similiar to the shirt so it isn't as super colorful and more in line with other Mars textures, think about darkening the feathers (or maybe the west instead) a tad like Zacheart suggested and/or consider other colors for the eye marks like Mithost said. I'd also agree with him to not put a logo on Falco's back as neither Mars Fox nor any other MMM Falcos have it. If nothing works out you can still go back to the old version without having lost much time at all, otherwise your texture just got better.

Also, it'd be nice to see ingame screenshots at one point before it's released and you could just show those youi'd use for the BV previews beforehand.

It's a bit harder to get feedback here than it was on Smashmods, maybe making a thread on Smashboards would have been better in that aspect, but that's no reason to stop giving one's best.

Most of the time it does. You just have to keep in mind that textures usually appear brighter ingame than in BB due to different lighting, so it is advisable to take an ingame look at it at some point before releasing. When using BB pictures to show the texture you might also consider increasing brightness and contrast a bit so it looks more like it would ingame, but most of us take that into account when reviewing them for this project anyway. The only thing of importance is to give a good look on the texture, because otherwise the whole feedback part of the work process obviously doesn't work.
12  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: Uniform Team Color Project (Work in Progress) on: March 21, 2013, 09:03:41 AM
But what do you mean "proper" screenshots? What I've been doing is taking a screenshot in Brawl and converting the .bin to a .jpg. Is there a better way to take screenshots of texture mods?
The "proper" was mostly there to exclude the kind of screenshots you had given us before for Link, that don't really show anything but one specific area.
More specifically I meant two things with proper: First, something like the screenshot of the texture problem doesn't count, because it shows nearly nothing of the texture. And second, if you upload the file as the primary method of viewing the texture, you'll probably not care too much about making screenshots from which you can criticize the texture alone. Just try to give a picture of it in its entirety.

I'm sure you would have done that anyway had you not uploaded your files.
13  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: Uniform Team Color Project (Work in Progress) on: March 21, 2013, 05:14:25 AM
Link: Better red tone - maybe a very tiny bit too orange, but it's hard to say with the old version shifting perception. The other part of my suggestion still stands, you should make at least some of the leather parts darker. At the moment it looks more like a red Maritime Link than a Mars one.

Falco: Yes, that's what I wanted to see. Different scarf maybe? The green shirt area and blue soles look a bit odd to me, too.

@Galaga: Could you just give us proper screenshots instead of uploading the files? If you for some reason can't, I can make them for you, but usually I wouldn't bother downloading every revision of the texture just to see what it looks like.

Next version for Maritime Wolf:

Main difference are the silver frame and straps of the boots, I only made minor adjustments apart from that.
14  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: Uniform Team Color Project (Work in Progress) on: March 19, 2013, 04:08:26 PM
Falco: Similiar problems to the first variant. The feather color imo doesn't really work for this project and the texture isn't red enough. The second one was best in those aspect. Aside from not being what we want it's a very nice texture - again.

Link: I sent you a working file.
Aside from that: The red is on the wrong side of the spectrum (we use one with a slight orange tint) and it looks very similiar to the Maritime/Minty Links (I guess you used Maritime Link as a base). Maybe try incorporating some black leather similiar to what vanilla red Link uses and changing the nearly white areas to a shade of brown.

Sonic: I like the fur, but the shoes look off - maybe a darkish brown, I dunno. You could also change the white areas to beige like most of the other textures have it, but I guess that could look strange with his brown body areas.

Wolf: I've made a first concept for Maritime Wolf, but I may have lost my feeling for the project. Thoughts?

It's nearly diametrically different from the style of Apple's Minty Wolf, so maybe I'll do another one in that direction.

I tried recoloring the hat first, but the bandana just looked so much better that we still went with it. If it bothers you to not have a Pikachu with cap, this download includes Mars Pika with the default hat and I could also finish the version with recolored cap on request.

It's also still wifi-safe, should you be referring to that.
