901  Help & Tutorials / Help / Game freezes at SSS every time I add a new GCT or edit an existing GCT on: November 20, 2010, 03:09:25 PM
All I did was remove the "New Pork City is Wi-Fi Waiting room" code in Code Manager. I then saved it as a .txt and replaced the 'BrawlMinus1.5b' txt file with my new one that doesn't have that code. I then exported it as a .gct and replaced the old one with it. Now the game freezes at the SSS. Also, any other GCT file that I add to my /codes folder -- such as ASF1nk's CSS GCT and PhantomWings's Stage Roster Expansion GCT -- freezes my game at the SSS. It's like my game will not allow me to edit its codes or add new ones.

If it helps, I'm using Gecko OS and Stack Smash. See the thing is Brawl Minus loads up properly and I can do ANYTHING in the game until I'm required to select a stage. The moment I get to the SSS it freezes. And no, it is not because my selmap.pac is too large; I hardly have anything added to it plus my game never froze at the SSS before until the new GCTs were added.

I'm a newbie at adding codes, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'll give you a step-by-step of what I did to make NPC not the Wi-Fi room:

1. I opened 'BrawlMinus1.5b' in Code Manager.
2. I right-clicked the code that makes NPC Wi-Fi room and removed it because I have a custom stage that's supposed to go over NPC.
3. I checked all the codes and saved it as 'BrawlMinus1.5b' to my Desktop, then I moved it to my /codes folder to replace the old default 'BrawlMinus1.5b' file.
4. I exported the same file as a GCT and saved it to my /codes folder, automatically overwriting the default RSBE01.gct file in there.
5. I opened the new .txt file to check if the NPC is wifi room code was gone and it was. Checked my GCT with GCTEdit v1.0, and it was also missing the code. So my game should work, right? Why doesn't it?

are you using Riivolution or Gecko?

I'm using Gecko and Stack Smash.

Also, I just tried it and it works, but the song names only show up in the "My Music" area, not in game. Here's what I did:

I opened "info.pac" in BrawlBox. I exported MiscData[140] (has the songs) as a .msbin. I then opened up mu_menumain.pac and replaced its MiscData[7] with the MiscData[140]. The songs only appear in the My Music area.

I'm assuming I have to edit the .pac that contains the music appearing at the start of a match? If so, where is it?

Very late edit: It worked all along; the titles don't appear in Training Mode which I've been using to test it. They only appear in Versus Mode.

Alright; I'll have to try that then.

I put songs.db into my ALSTT folder, opened the outputted info.pac with BrawlBox and looked at MiscData[140]; it has all my song titles in the little box there. I made myself an 'info2' folder and placed the 'info.pac' in there. I start up the game and none of my song titles appear in game. Why? The info.pac has my custom titles and is in the right directory...so why won't it work?

3. You will need Brawl's original files to base your hacks off of. All of the files except for the movies can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=bf68243dc4c908b28d78a0e5552916095d6170349cac00195be6ba49b5870170.

FitGKoopaSpy.pac and FitZakoGirlMotion.pac are broken.

.rel files are like extra files for a character/stage. If you were able to port a .rel to an alloy for example, in theory, they will be able to ledge grab, do specials guard, dodge, and etc.

I don't quite understand. I thought they were only used to allow you to replace a regular vBrawl stage with a hacked one?

Also, why can't alloys do any of those things? I don't even have the alloys yet.

Currently one charcter= one moveset. A couple of people are working on "Clone" engines, but untill they finish, which could be several months from now if ever, each character can only have one moveset. so Unfortunatly, it is impossible to have Naruto over Ike, with his moveset verse the original Ike.

Oh ok I see.

Next question:

With stages, what are .rel files for? I know how to use them and where to put them, but what do they really do? Why do some stages from this site come with them and some don't (and usually don't require them if they don't come with it)?

I was also thinking that a while ago but I would imagine it would be really hard and time consuming to get it to work.

You have to cut the song at the point where the seasons would change and place the second part  over the other Obstacle Course song.  That way, when the seasons change, the song will just keep going.  Alternatively, you could just place custom songs over all of the other songs and set Obstacle Course to zero chance.

Hope that helps.

How do you know when the season changes? Do you have to mark it down? Like lets say it changed at...2:04, so if your custom song is 4:27, you would cut it at 2:04 and then put another song there or something...?

Hmm I'm thinking:

Temple
Distant Planet
Pirate Ship
Green Greens

Basically anything with a friendly grassy or swamp-like environment would compliment this song well, as Bubblegloop Swamp was...well...a swamp with grass and water and whatnot, so it'd make sense to find a stage that has those attributes in Brawl.

Is it possible to have PSAs of a character while not overwriting the original and still being able to choose their other textures? Because every PSA I tried it always comes with a FitCharacter.pac without any numbers so I have to replace the original one meaning I'll never be able to be the original character as long as the PSA is present.
