Aafyre's Vertex and Texture thread (08/27) Desukan Preview

Okay, Gengar is looking excellent but he has a few glaring issues that I don't know how to fix. This first issue is that he slowly transforms back into regular Wario when he stores up his gas. I can deal with this part because it actually looks pretty amusing and kind of serves a purpose.

The main issue I'm having is that even if I vertex him perfectly, Wario has a weird shading that will make the outlines of his overalls really obvious. I remember Calamitas had a very similar problem with Wolf's boots for his Amaterasu so I doubt it's really fixable at the moment. I think he looks pretty awesome besides that problem so I will probably release him anyways if there isn't a fix to it.

If his shading problem is impossible to fix, I guess I'm done with him. Besides those two problems (his overall shading and his morphing) I think he looks almost perfect. He's vertexed completely smoothly so I don't think that the vertex is the problem so I'm completely stumped.

I just wish something so simple wasn't holding him back from looking like an official character. Maybe someone can figure out how to fix these kinds of issues in the future. Here's what he looks like if you're curious (his shading problem looks more obvious in strong lighting):



If you're wondering, his mouth and eyes are just painted on so he can't open his mouth unfortunately. I'll post the download to this tomorrow if nobody knows how to fix his problems.

Lolwut?!?!  That must be pretty weird and hilarious to look at o.O However, the vertex itself looks fantastic!  This could actually open up something decent for Wario.  Finally somebody could do a Gengar PSA.

But with all of these things of yours coming out one after the other, I can't help but feel a little...No, VERY annoyed and impatient. >_>

I know you have a lot of stuff you wanna do, but I asked you for this a LONG time ago, so do you think maybe after Gengar is done, you could just finish up Wave and be done with him sometime soon? It's kind of holding me up a little on my plans. No offense. -_o

Maybe try removing the 'other' stuff in his up B? try poking around the specials tab a little and see if you can find anything :s

Alright, sorry Wave. I have been trying to work on your character a little bit here and there but you have to understand that a TON of other people have also requested things (even before you did) and it's really hard to do everything at once. I will try and finish him soon but I was also trying to work on a Vanguard Ike that I told somebody I'd get done by October 30th that asked over a month ago.

If you really want him done as soon as possible, he's going to have to be on Marth instead of Link. The reason why I've been releasing things quickly is because certain characters are much faster and easier to work with (Sheik and Wario have very few polygons once you get rid of their heads). Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you tell me that I didn't need to do it if it was too much trouble? I mean, I still plan on finishing it if you want me to but I don't think it's very fair to get annoyed with me about it.

Thing that astonishes me is the fact that vertexes are really quick to do.  How long do these take you to do?  A few days tops?  BY told me that his vertexes usually take a day or so to do which just made me go


It's quite amazing really.  To think that making a good PSA takes AGES to do (a really good one takes AT LEAST a month if you know exactly what you are doing and do not make many mistakes) whereas a good vertex does not take too long to do.  That said though, vertexing does DEFINATELY take more skill than PSAing.  PSAs are more about knowledge and patience if anything.

But anyways keep up the great work.  I hope to see more of your vertexes ^^
