Imma be completely honest here. It's because they look sloppy. Don't take this the wrong way but it's true. It's like asking your doctor why you're sick and he tell's you that you aren't sick, you just feel different from everyone else. In the end that doesn't help you.
So imma be straight up with you.
Looking at your last 3 hacks, they're full of holes and the texture mapping on them is off so they don't look cohesive and on some hacks are horribly stretched. Also Hercules has an eyeball on his chin.
So yea, imo the biggest problem is your textures. Next is the "polish" you put into them; close any holes that you can and distribute the vertices on your models evenly to reduce stretching and normal problems.
Samurai Goroh and Cactuar are your best hacks imo and they deserve way more downloads than what they recieved, but I guess it's just that they aren't the most popular characters.
well thanks for the feedback ^^
and hercules' eye isnt there actually, its just that i used old previews... XDDD
and the texturing, yeah, if i dont use solid colors idk how to make the different parts match...
thats one of the reasons i asked u about ur method... xD
as u might asume already, i just open the textures in photoshop, and copy paste and transform... xD
Well, I'll say it based on what I see.
First of all, animations. The character won't be in T-stance at all in-game. And some of your vertexes may look very good when in T-stance, but not as good as when they move. You should avoid certain things that make the model look bad in animations, like, causing the model to have holes or bending weirdly or overlaying... That used to happen more often in the past, but nowadays it seems that the vertexers are being more careful.
Second, as Beyond said, the textures. This problem doesn't apply to all your hacks, but when you make a hack, try to adapt the textures a little to the look of Brawl. Try in-game, then move it back to the computer as many times as you find needed. Also, stretching. Avoid it at all costs.
Also, note: competition is fierce. Your hacks are competing for the slots of the users with hacks by Beyond, Aafyre, Starwaffle etc. Some people can see your hacks and wonder "hmm... this looks interesting... but I don't want to remove any of my slots to add them". See what I mean? If you want to get those slots, you'll have to bring not only something they want, but in the quality they expect.
the animation thing is because of removing sleeves and making them into sleeveless arms or legs... xDD
