Can someone help out a total idiot?

Sometimes while Brawling with texture hacks on (No other codes, just file replacement), everything will suddenly go really slow and laggy. Certain objects will disappear, and there are strange lines appearing over the screen. This can last a short time or a long time.

Eventually, the slowdown will end. This will be followed by the game going in fast motion, as if to catch up to where it left off. The length of sped-up gameplay seems to match the length of slowed-down gameplay.

It's extremely annoying and I'd love to be able to fix it if I could. I already tried formatting the SD card.

I can try to record a video of this problem, but hopefully this text description should be enough.

This happens when you remove a polygon from a model... Do you have any hacks that do so?

Oh, really? Well, I have no idea. I've replaced pretty much everything.

At first I thought it was one particular item that was causing the problem (Since it seems to match up with the length of time an item shows up, then disappears)

But I ran through all of the items one by one in Training Mode, and nothing happened.

I find most item hacks don't have any model edits. Do you have any character or stage hacks that might cause the problem?

But if it were a character or stage hack, then wouldn't it be laggy all the time?

Yes, but some stages have models that appear after a set period of time. The Chimera and the Spear Pillar Pokemon for Example. And some characters have model changers, and those model changes might be what was removed and only lags if activated. Peach and Link for Example.

I once removed Peaches crown when she uses her Forward Air, and it lagged when used...

Try to find out what caused it to lag.

It happened to me with a model/texture for Mario on Final Destination stage. It was causing a  lag, after a random time, of whole game and every time Mario was losing a life, game was suddenly fastening up, seeming to catch lost time. And there was also, like you said, strange lines over the screen.
This model/texture is Asterix over Mario. The owner did not admit that his hack was messing the game.
Anyway i was curious to know why this was happening, so it's due to models. And i suppose that nothing can be done to fix it.
I'm also curious to know which texture is causing you problem, GigaBowser.

No more into brawl hacking as long as Fighter.pac remains not editable, also i don't have time for that anymore for the moment.

I forgot to add in some information. The polygon removed to make it lag would either have to be flowing by the wind, or used for attacking.

Haven't had a chance to play Brawl until now, but I got around to it.

After a few matches, it happened. Four characters were fighting on a hacked stage. The slowdown seemed to occur when a Dragoon Piece appeared, which was hacked to be a Hydra piece. This was backed up because as I zoomed in and out with the camera, the glitchy lines seemed to be coming from the Hydra piece and connecting to it.

This is odd, however, since this same Hydra piece appeared in an earlier match (different characters and stage) with no ill effects.

Also, I made the mistake of trying to take a screenshot for y'all. It made a crash Tongue

There's never any pattern. It's a different set of circumstances every time.

Although I did play a bunch of matches with the items turned completely off, and it didn't happen. So it probably is an item-related problem...
