Texture hacks specific sd card? (Solved)

I'm extremely new to this whole brawl hack thing and I read a tutorial on how to do it, however it talks about what to do with an sd card but does not specify. I'm not real computer  or video game savvy. Can someone please tell me what kind of sd card I need or brand? Also can someone tell me if its safe to download brawl hack files? And how do you change or make the image of a hacked character on character select screen? Or change the audio of the announcer or character sfx?

There are alot of things to cover based on what your asking.

1). Any 2 Gig SD Card (NOT SDHC). Though, you may go higher if you're using Riivolution

2). Yes, it's safe to download files in the vault... Though steer clear from reported ones.

3). For CSPs, you need to take a snapshot of the character, and place it in a PNG file with specific resolution. You then replace the In Game CSPs BrawlBox. They are located in either the common5.pac, or the sc_selcharacter.pac

4). SFX hacking is only available through Riivolution, or ISO Modding.

Um ok what is: csp, brawl box, riivolution, iso modding, sdhc,? And what are the differences between texture, model, and import files?

You are EXTREMELY new to this I see...

CSP = Character Selection Portraits

BrawlBox = A program used to mod Brawl

Riivolution = A method of loading up your codes. Gecko OS is another example of such.

ISO Modding = I'd rather not touch on this subject...

SDHC = Another type of SD Card... Well, it's a more secure version of an SD Card, and that's why they don't work for Brawl hackers.

Thank you for explaining. I've been trying to research this stuff and I have seen people talking about using gecko and riivolution. Which one works better or is noob friendly? And for the hack to work do you need to have one of those programs on both the computer and wii, or just the wii? Also is there a huge difference between textures,imports or models?

1). Personally, I use Gecko OS cause it's easy to use for me. But there are things that Riivolution can do that Gecko Can't. The biggest thing being SFX Hacking.

2). PAC and PCS files need to be placed in their correct folders in the SD Card. You can keep them in your computer for future use if you want.

3). texture hacks are just changing the colors of the character. Nothing about their physical build is altered. Everything else falls into the model category, whether they are slightly changed models, or imported from other games/custom made models.

Ok I think I'm starting to get the idea. So for example say I wanted to replace peach with miku, if I were to use a texture file it wouldn't change the appearance completely? It would just be peach dressed as miku and that's it? So to have peach replaced with miku I would have to download a model or import file right? I'm a bit perplexed because I've seen things like this

 [Character-ImportModelTexture-Zero Suit Samus]    The terms import,model,texture are what's throwing me off. So when I'm looking for character hacks what exactly should I look for when I want a full character not just the clothes? A string extremely similar to that one? Im also confused because I've also seen this:  [Character-Import-Marth] so will it change completely as well if I choose import over model? How does this thing work?

That is beyond me.

When I see Model, I assume that there is slight alterations to the normal model. However, when I see ImportModel, I assume that the model has been replaced completely.

Sweet! Thanks! Just a few more questions:

1. What is a Psa?

2. Once the models are downloaded, can they be removed and how?

3. Is there a particular way to download Psa models or are they just like any other character hack? I'm asking because I was using vault search and saw that it had a category for Psa and was wondering what the difference was.

4. Can more than character be used? (For example a Marth miku model vs a Marth edward model?)

1). PSA is a Custom Moveset. It applies for all colors, and more often than not, change the attacks of a character. I specialize in this field so if you're curious, feel free to ask.

2). Simply, remove them from the SD Card.

3). Treat them like any other character hack.

So to hack in Ed and miku I would go to where that list of names is saved for the hack make a fitmiku05 and fitedward03 to change it and that's it? I can have them vs each other just by changing the texture? Or is there more to it than that? Also I've heard subspace emissary is difficult to keep a hack, is this true? If so how does one go about doing it?

1). The files need to be named properly in order for it to work.

2). For SSE, you need to save the PAC file. Normally people would save just the PCS file.

Is it okay to have both the PAC and the pcs file or will the character file be corrupt if I keep both?

Yes it's fine. They're only loaded at different points.
