When editing characters you have to know what costume you're editing. Costume 1 = FitCharacter00.pac Costume 2 = FitCharacter01.pac Costume 3 = FitCharacter02.pac and so on. So to see the change you need to select links third costume. Click the portrait twice to get to his third costume.

Actually, alternate colors are color coded. 00 is normal, 01 is red, 02 is green, 03 is blue, and anything beyond that are just alternate color palettes.

Costume, colors really no difference. We're both right, you just know what it's really called.

I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that Costume 2 generally doesn't mean 01. Some characters don't even have a 01.

Well i basically just copied and pasted those .pac and .pcs files into my fighter folder and renamed them because i do like the standard costume color for each character which is why i wanted the texture on an alternate costume, should i be editing my RSBE01.gct or projectm.xml? i saw quite a few videos but none were for just replacing textures it was just for creating brand one from the standard costume. Also none were using the riivolution method so i assumed maybe thats why i was doing something wrong.

If your GCT Contains the File Patch Code, you need to remove it if you plan on using Riivolution. Having the File Patch Code in it using Riivolution would cancel out the one that Riivolution already has.

Still don't know if your GCT file has the File Patch Code in it. If it does, you need to either remove it, or switch to Gecko.
Then again, I'm not a Riivo user, so somebody else could point out something.

Well i know i can't use gecko because i had to use riivolution since i have an 4gb sd card, however to check the GCT file i would need a code manager right? the link to download one on the website doesnt seem to work atm. :X

I think Link's 3rd costume is Blue. I have Steve on that one. Blue should be 03.
Also Link has no FitLink02 costume, since 02 is usually green, but Link's 00 is green. Kinda why Mario has no FitMario01, cause his default is red while 01 is for red.
