Mewtwo, I never post on this board (Although I've been lurking since the beginning) and I can say that I'm really excited for Ganon's Tower. You, along with others like Beyond, are really the only people worth coming to this site for.

Kind of a weird place to say it, but the main problem with the Vault is there's absolutely no Quality Control. I've seen so many "recolours" that aren't even recolours, it's people colouring the body a solid colour and calling it a recolour. [censored] looks nasty, man.

The site needs a rating system like GameBanana, if anyone has heard of it. I imagine if anyone plays TF2, CS:S or any Source game really they've heard of it.

Anyway, but yeah you definitely shouldn't feel like your work is unwanted, because trust me, you're one of the 2 or 3 reasons to even come to this site!

    ^ this. All those bland textures, horrible glitchy model edits, and "beep of death" inducing PSA's can be difficult to separate from all the good hacks, unless they're reported, but even then, people will report some of them for invalid reasons, like this one:

    Remind me why people can't just open the file in BrawlBox and "Save As" a .pcs?
    Some people will skip a good hack for it being reported, without looking at the reason why it's reported.

    Yeah, it has been mentioned, and the response was "all hacks are 5s! and we don't want to be mean." I don't see why. If people get 1s and 2s, they should be inspired to work harder. This isn't the place for that discussion though...

    I'm gonna rest these days, there's something called 'bridge' next monday (basically, there's no class on tuesday, and thus, there's no class on monday either)

    If I get free time, I'll make progress in my current stage (Ganon's), even with no wii with me, and on wednesday, I have some presentation and homework to do. After that, I will be free again, with my wii with me, and I'll release the stage if I complete it.

    After that, I'll finish Fountain of Dreams, and will get some progress on Grunty's Tower.

    Hi guys, I'm here to show you that I'm starting to use the importer aswell in my own profit. I don't know if I'm including this in the first release of the stage, but it serves well as a demonstration of what I'm gonna make in the future.




    And a short explanation:

    The main problem when I was making stages like Peach's Castle M64 was the ammount of models. I've been building my stages with hundreds of 2D models since the day I made Dreamland, if I'm not mistaken. That ammount was too big in the case of Peach's Castle, specially with the Courtyard part. That's why I managed to group 3-5 2D models into stage builder blocks, not sure if anybody has noticed that anyway (compare the models used in the playable and results versions of the stage, they're different). I have a program that allows me to include the 9 vertices of the 2D model into each of the faces of the block model, and depending how are the textures I'm using, I can 'compress' my stage more or less.

    The problem with this was blocks having only one bone. Anyway, with brawlbox that won't be a problem anymore. Another problem was that, even reducting the ammount of models to 1/3, there were still too many in some cases.

    Well, in the picture we have a model made by 32 blocks, or 96 2D models if you prefer. In one single model, I have the whole castle, so I've saved 31 models (or 95 with the whole process). I've rigged (if that's a good term for this) the different parts of the castle, including the top, the middle, the lower and 4 of the small towers. So, both pictures show the same single model, only that the bones are moved. With this, I could animate the castle and make it collapse with ease.

    Again, I'm not sure about including the new model into the released stage, but the original 32 models, and no animation. It would be a little more work, as I should animate some waves and completing the ground the castle is on.

    Well, it was only that. Just to let you know I'm not willing to stay the same, but improving with the new tools that have come. People are rigging characters. I will try to rig Great Mighty Poo, the Jinjos, Gruntilda, and everything I need in my next-gen stages. And maybe some characters too, if I get familiar enough with it xD

    Well that's a big improvement to filesize!

    Anyways, how do you even animate the lava? Wouldn't it require SRT0 texture animations?

    Not really filesize, I've checked the total size of the stage file, and it's almost the same. Anyway, the stage compatibility is increased when you're loading a lower ammount of models.

    The lava is animated with one of the nodes of a SRT0 animation, as you said. Another node animates the clouds over the town, and another one is there for the rainbow bridge.

    And a CLR0 animation animates the brigtness in the lower part of the castle and the walls of the lava crater.

    Ah, but BrawlBox doesn't even have support for SRT0, so I'm pretty amazed if you figured out the format on your own Smiley

    Surprisingly, this is pretty awesome! You were worried that importing stages was gonna be a threat, but now you're starting to take advantage of the situation! You amaze me, Mewtwo, in more ways than just the stages you release! Btw, I'm not in any way familiar with the new importer... does it allow for imported models to have new bones? If so, then someone needs to give Great Bay an update, with an animated Turtle, Tingle, and Giants.

    I'm not doing that stage for the moment, I'll let the original maker to try it if he wants to... But I may come one day with the re-imported stage full of animated things, who knows O.o

    Yes sir. This right here is exactly why it's such an advantage, at least compared to the regular obj importing.
