i find it funny that there are 5 votes for "I'm one of the three other Metroid fans on this forum, and I approve this." :P

Couldn't you use Samus's ship for the platform? Or is that not authentic enough.

Hm, hadn't thought about that....

I'd have to say no, since she leaves her ship on the surface and it never actually enters the caves?

Not a bad idea, it just doesn't seem to mesh well in my mind... thanks for the idea though.

Do you maybe have any ideas as to what the platform should look like? I have some, but I would really like some help trying to visualize all of this because it can be tough.

What about one of those lift platforms she uses to go from area to area?

use the original planet zebes ssb lower part of the stage to be the platform

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

it would look nice imo

You mean like an elevator platform? It's a bit small no?

This is gonna sound reeeeeaaaaal nitpicky, but that design more better represents Brinstar than it does SR-388.

I think I might take a look at Melee Zebes, since that one's a bit more design neutral.

~Edit~

Ok, so I looked at Zebes's main platform and I think it may be a good match.

I deleted all the goopy biomatter stuff and what have you, and ended up with this:

Ignore the [censored]ty textures, they're just... [censored]ty.

Don't know how they got away with that. :srs:

But here's my question: should I keep both halves of the platform and find some way to combine them, or just use the left side?

Should I delete more/add more? Opinions would be appreciated.

i think you could just make a thin metal bridje connecting both parts
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Oh look a reply.

Ok, that sounds reasonable. I was reluctant about connecting the two down the middle since they're made of like a billion polygons each, and there is no easy way to attach them. /:

So metal bridge it is then.

Well yeah but someone could redo the texture for a bigger platform, quite some bigger platform xD

But using Zebes works i guess o.o

I suppose I can see one of the lifts from maybe the Prime games working, but it'd kinda small and pretty flat. /:

The Zebes platform isn't a finalized thing, so any other ideas would still be appreciated.

~Edit~

So I was digging through the Other M ISO trying to write a comprehensive documentation of its set up (because there doesn't seem to be one anywhere, and for good reason apparently) and I found this:

From what I can tell, it's a Metroid hatching ground, but.... where the hell was that in the game? ._.

There were quite a few other unnecessary files, including full models of the Bottle Ship, the battle field from Samus's flashback
WHICH ONE AMIRITE and what appears to be a long road with random Federation vehicles strewn about.

Also, dafuq is this:

Whatever the case, I'll try to incorporate this into the stage somehow.

Isn't that part of the inside of the room where the Mother Metroid comes out? Behind that friggin big door.

Nope, I found that area separately. This is most likely something unused, or probably something in a cutscene that was removed. Or something.

I certainly don't remember it. @_@

Oh well, I nice find if I do say so myself.

Also, I dumped all the textures, and what do I find?

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

That is the texture for the weird round thing I circled.

DAFUQ IS GOING ON? D:

That... makes sense I suppose. But, like, a reflection of what?

The thing is, it's spherical and has an SRT0 file that doesn't loop properly, and it obviously doesn't match the background, so I was thinking that maybe it was a background model itself or something that landed there.

The whole thing is messing with my mind. But it's ultimately irrelevant, since I removed it anyway. XD
