No. Just like with Brawl, any bone edits will be very unstable without PSA editing to fix bone reference issues.

Both him and I are PSA modders. We should know. :srs:

Bone edits are either adding bones, renaming bones, scaling bones, moving bone placements, or moving bone IDs. All of which aren't generally compatible (and sometimes glitchy) with the respective characters without editing the character's animations and/or PSA. You either have to make your character's bones match the character you're making it over, or just make a PSA and fix the bone edits. There will never be a middle ground, no matter how hard you try.
