Poliwrath is finally released. A big thanks to Flygon for the rig, Velen for the spec map, and Snoopy for getting everything working.

Hm...
The model is quite amazing. The textures are great, the detailing is very nice. The overall shape is well done. Velen made a nice SpecMap, it really gives him a amphibian look to his skin. Overall I like the model quite a bit.
...
But that rig... Not so much.I'll show a few pictures to show what I mean...

I don't think the rig is quite that bad but there are a few problem areas. I'm not really sure whether the problems come from the rig or the fact that Poliwrath's body is just too big for DK's frame to fit properly. I really appreciate all the work that Flygon did with the rig so I wouldn't really want all his effort to be wasted. That being said, if there is a way to fix these problem areas anybody is welcome to pick up the project and help out. If it turns out that the rig would have to be completely redone in order to fix him, I want to make sure Flygon is okay with it before that happens. I will add whoever decides to help out as a collab with the rest of the team that made this. Post Merge: January 02, 2013, 10:51:10 PM
Here's a preview of the next stage I've been working on: It's Lakeside Limbo, the very first stage in Donkey Kong Country 3, as seen here: The modelling for the stage itself is pretty much done, but does anyone have suggestions on how to build the rest of the environment? I want there to be water all around, with some mountains in the background, just like in the video. Post Merge: January 03, 2013, 01:27:39 PM
Goombella's nearing completion, thanks to Nanobuds. Here's what she looks like textured

When you're done with the textures, send them to me. I want to add some nice shaders to het helmet.

For lakeside limbo I'd suggest using one of the backgrounds from the subspace emissary for it. Perhaps use the background from the fight with Rayquaza?

Yeah, I was also thinking about this one: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=30013There should definitely be some form of mountains in the back. I just don't know how I should build it exactly. Should I just take the background as is from one of the SSE maps, and then make a giant flat surface connecting everything to be the water?

Oh, there are plenty of models you can use for water. You could probably take Delphino's or Pirate Ship's ocean model for that. As for the background, you could make a large flat surface and just texture the background on it. Either that or model the mountains and stuff completely from scratch. Depends on how much filesize you have left to mess around with.

Oh I know, you could use the model from Ice Climbers' final smash and retexture it to look like a mountain, or better yet, use the mountain model from the ice climbers stage.

I dont know i think it would kick-azz if you could include the original DK island in the background:

Yeah I'll see what I can do with the lake stage. The only problem was that it's too jungley, and DKC3 is all about the countryside. Maybe I can get rid of all the palm trees and stuff. Post Merge: January 03, 2013, 05:36:02 PM
Also, I finally released those brawlified pokemon textures. Check the opening post if you want 'em. Post Merge: January 03, 2013, 10:28:08 PM
Okay, got my stage textured: And I attempted to build an environment for it out of SSE parts: I used the sky from the Rayquaza lake, and some background scenery from Mewtwo2000's Huge Forest http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=7065I've not added any water (or ground beneath it) though, because I'm not really sure how that works, and I couldn't find the right parts in the stages I was looking at in brawlbox.
