Title: Rosalina Version V3 aka complete rosalina released

I was inspired by the rosalina vertex hack here: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=3592.0

Version 3, Ready for balancing.

AA combo: smack + umbrella small hit. 1st hit is a offensive smack to deal small damage and the second hit is a slightly defensive hit to hit enemies away.

F-tilt: Umbrella spin. She spins her umbrella... Btw the umbrella is her melee weapon while the stars are her range attacks.

D-tilt: unchanged. Good for edge guard

U-tilt: Small star fountain. She makes a small fountain of stars over her head.

F-smash: Umbrella big hit. She swings her umbrella to hit away enemies.

U-smash: Large star fountain. Same as U-tilt except stronger and lasts longer.

D-smash: Star dance. She spins on the floor with stars around her dealing damage.

F-air: unchanged

B-air: small star fountain back. She makes a small star fountain behind her.

U-air: small star fountain up. Same as all star fountains except over her.

D-air: Small star fountain down (spike). She makes a small star fountain below her that spikes.

Note: I think she is balanced but you guys might think she is a little unresistant so if you want me to make a more resistant version post here.


Explanation of why I didn't finish this a long time ago... I stopped hacking and got lazy... V3 is done and I'm almost ready to release!

Actually, I'm really interested in this project. Because de Vertex hack is good enough, and the moveset not that complicated. I'll think about some ideas and post them a little later, but this sure looks promising. :)

I'm doing that for version 2 :af2:

Also Version 2's moveset is having progress!!
I transformed the tip of her umbrella into (half) a star! (half because there weren't enough points on the top), The star doesn't really look so good but I'm proud of it! (its my first Vertex hack ;) )
Anyway
forward tilt is wand spin
The new AA combo is slap smack
Forward smash is Magic wand (Has sweetspot)

And I need a little help... I can make her umbrella/wand appear but I don't know how to make it disappear >.< This is very important for this moveset because on some attacks she uses her wand and on some attacks she doesn't...

I tired it... didn't work :( The turnips just appear normal... Or I might have put the file in the wrong place :o Does anyone know where the item common pac goes?

Nice! a Rosalina moveset sounds great! I dont suppose its possible to use the star in her attacks? Kinda like a GFX effect instead of a projectile. You could have a few of her attacks use a star to hit opponents. Like swinging it around her body or something (could be Neutral aerial?) or have her foward tilt or so be her swinging a star in front of her.

Just a suggestion but I have her pulling out a warp star and riding it. No different than the umbrella aside from the way the animation looks.

I LOVE ROSALINA.
And coming from a Peach main, I'm happy to have her in my roster instead :D

Some Suggestions, if I may:

Neutral B is really useless D:
I feel like it should reflect projectiles or counter or something useful, preferrably the former. It's basically just the old nair with a larger hitbox.

Speaking of Nair, this new one raises Rosalina in the air a good bit, and can be spammed for infinite recovery, which is reallllllllly broken. Perhaps you could make her nair do exactly what her current Neutral B does, and give her an entirely new Neutral B
....Or just lose the height gain it causes.

Side B is my favourite, however, I feel like it's a bit overpowerd when spammed. Maybe reduce the speed at which you can fire them off?
Also I've noticed that if you use it while dashing towards the edge, she does a sort of glide off of the edge and keeps moving outward for as long as youre throwing stars. Upon stopping, you'll immediately teleport back to the edge of the stage. This might be broken, but it's really fun for mindgames :P

Down B seems really inferior to Side B. Not sure what to suggest here.

Up B on rosalina just seems kinda dull, though I understand if you don't want her to have a completely new moveset.

Well, I was GOING to say what pearbear said... but pearbear beat me to it.

If you can fix these things as s/he suggested, I'll be comfortable with having Rosalina in my roster as a fair character. She will be the second "fair" character to make it to my roster (Cloud, though overpowered, is the first).

I find that the newest more balanced version of Avatar (over ness) is pretty fair and blends well in my game. Just saying :D

I do believe the purpose of having a thread is to be able to appreciate the feedback and suggestions for improvement. Whether or not the creator takes that advice is up to him.

And we're not banging it, we're caressing it. I said it elsewhere and I'll say it here too -- I'm already amazed at what these guys can do with the game. It's WAAYY over my head. However, I do know what balance feels like, and I know an overpowered move when I see one. So even if I can't tell him how to do something (as it's not my field of knowledge), I can tell him how it feels in-game (because that IS my field of knowledge).

I assume him, but I'm speaking generally to all creators out there.

Lol Its useful for stopping falcon punches :3 But I'm also trying to make it reflect to make it even more annoying!!


Also about the N air I'm not sure what to put in it so I'm gonna make her do Pit's N air :3

I am going to keep how her U special works except I'm gonna try to remove the floating down and add some nice sparkles to her wand...


Thing I need help with before version 3:
Making her Neutral special reflect... I did everything I know about reflecting to make it reflect but nothing worked so I need help...
Making a animation for peach (Pit's N air animation)

And that's all...

Hi, I would like to offer my opinion regarding Rosalina.

First of all great job on the move set.  Rosalina moves and attacks a whole hell of a lot smoother.  It's nice to see that somebody was finally able to make a move set that improves on the original character without turning him/her into God.

That said, I think changes could be made in order to balance her.

Neutral B- I think you're working on making it reflect projectiles, I approve of this move.  The knockback should be lowered a tad though.  I find it too easy to knock an enemy 80%+ off the stage.

Forward B- Knockback on this should be lowered as well.  Don't nerf it, just lower it a bit... or at least lower the fire rate on the thing.

Neutral Air- Rosalina is already hard to kill, but her neutral air move makes killing her all too difficult.  Instead, turn it into more like Zelda's Neutral air attack.

Down Air- I love this move.  But it's way too easy to spike enemies, I think a sweet spot needs to be made if at all possible

If you ever turn the umbrella into the star wand, keep the current Up B move but make it seem like it's magic from the wand that is helping her slowly float downward.  Being able to use an Air attack after using Up B (like Pit, Sonic, and Snake) would be pretty cool too.

Those are just a couple things.

Requiem makes lots of sense, I agree entirely.
Also, I'm going to look into applying a hack that allows shields to never break, just for precaution against spam... at least until you reduce knockback of the star.

I made an modified an animation for her pulling starnips out of the sky if you want it. Also starting making her up B us a star. Same properties as the umbrella just different animation.

I forgot about this.  Rosalina needs new taunt animations.   Obviously, that's the least important thing right now, but she does need new taunts.

In the common3_en there is the item_param. Any chance that thats the item parameters? If so you may be able to change the starnips parameters to be less turnip like. As in random damage and  throw trajectory.

I don't understand this at all.  How can one "no longer hack Brawl" unless you completely forget everything you've learned?
Several ways, his wii broke, something got deleted, game disc broke/lost, SD card broke/lost, or accidental update. Something like that, which would permanantly stop hacks. Sorry to hear that though, I liked this project. It would have fit very well with the Galaxy Mario hack.

Hmmm I can still make hacks but it is absolutely impossible for ME to test which is why I was canceling BUT I was thinking about getting some testers then it wouldn't be a problem... even though I wouldn't be able to use my own creations T-T


Edit: I forgot to say that the reason of this difficulty is because both my SD card and the reader are no longer working... I think my maid spilled some sort of cleaning chemical on them  :'(

Did you back up all of your stuff?  If so, all you have to do is by a new SD card and SD card reader.  SD cards are cheap, and I'm sure somebody sells external SD readers.

Woot! I found out that it ISN'T my SD card its my SD card USB port which means I can still hack and I won't have to redo the newest changes! This project is coming back to life in a few days or less! I will also soon start my Fourth oracle project because I'm starting to get better at vertex :D Version 3 coming soon...

New stuff coming into version 3:
B reflects but is not as powerful(I STILL haven't got the reflect thing to work :P)
Side B now cannot be shot so quickly which means no more star spam...
Up B is no longer going to have the floating down but will remain the same during the actual attack...
She is going to have a wand instead than a umbrella and I am going to make new taunts+wait animations! If anyone wants to help I would GLADLY accept! Also her N air no longer launches her up but is now a trick move that can be VERY annoying to the enemy if used correctly... and sometimes it can actually save them :P

Anyone that knows how to make her B move reflect please PM me!

I disagree with this change.  Keep her floating.  Everything else sounds like a good idea.

Sorry I can't help outside of providing suggestions.  I have no idea how to use Brawl Box at all.

She will do her Up B and then go into a  disabled fall instead of using her umbrella to go down slowly...


Also I would like to ask for someone to vertex hack the star wand to look more like Rosalina's wand from Mario galaxy.... Also sorry its taking kinda long but I'm currently planning 2 other projects :3

If she's gonna freefall after the upB, it kills so many strategies... like when people are edgehogging you and you wanna float by them and tap them off the edge...

When you wanna play games with the fast-fall > float > fast-fall > float...

As a former Peach/avid Rosalina v2 player, I love the attempts in changes you're making, but I disagree wholeheartedly with a free-fall upB...unless you make that upB hurt like hell, or increase the knockback it does.

But, of course, it's your Rosalina v3. Make the changes and I'll play her regardless. After all, psa have a right to a fair trial.

If you remove the floating after UpB, then you should have her be able to attack with A moves afterward like sonic.

Not to mention she doesn't leap up all that high in the first place.  Meaning that if she's a mile away, there's no way she's coming back.  I just ruins her being.  The her lightweight needs to be offset by her great recovery, making her free fall immediately after using her Up B takes that away.

Well-said, Requiem! I can't believe I forgot that necessary bit of info.
However, I would forgive the upB change if it were changed to Sonic's upB. Instead of a spring, I guess she could jump off of that warp star thingie. It would also fulfill the strategy complaint, because Sonic can attack out of the upB, so perhaps you can have Rosalina have the ability to hover after the spring? That would be awesome (and such a destructive mind-blaster).

Peach has always been my girl. And I was hesitant about playing as Rosalina, but I LOVE Rosalina V2.

After reading all of this about V3 and such, I am goign to start to suggest too.

I agree that The UpB could be different, but if it remains as a short hop upward, then there needs to be a drifting downards. It ALMOST balances it out. Haha.

The Nair change is excellent. I Hate being sent into the air doing a Nair.

I think that her AA combo should flow just a little bit more, and that she should have a different BackThrow.

Other than that, this is amazing. My favorite PSA. Hands down.

I can't wait for V3.
I would be HONORED to be a tester. C:

I think her upB should be something like she puts her arms back and she kind glows as the stars lift her up and the stars can delicatly bring her to the ground :)

i think she should have a heavy jump for her upB, something like DeDeDe. She would leave a puff of smoke under her legs and just... JUMP! Nothing has to happen when she lands either (but if you're gonna give her the jump, mite as well give her the attack that comes after it too).

Yes she is, due to long time exposure to zero gravity. That is why she is a heavy character in Mario Kart Wii.

I think it's due to the fact that she is taller due to the exposure to zero gravity. And they couldn't put her any where else in MKW

I'm I the only one to notice that her Dair does a grand total of 39% DAMAGE!?
I love the spike to it and sometimes the possible combo set up, but it needs to be more balanced, like doing a total damage between 6-12%.

I fixed the download! So yeah now its the REAL v3... Most of her moves are combo moves and her kill moves... well they can kill a lot.

I think she is pretty balanced... I use Brawl+ and she seems to be working well... But if someone thinks she is too unresistant please post here! I want to know what you all think  :)

Yeah and in the balanced version D-air does 2-6 N-air does 2-8 U-air does 3-4 B-air does 4-5 and F-air does 15...

U-smash does around 30 with charge and so does F-smash but D smash can only do around 10...its a defensive move.

F-tilt does around 10 D-tilt does 5 and U-tilt does around 8

Dash does 4-8

N-B does 13 S-B does 8 D-B varies a lot and U-B does I'm not sure...


Her aerials are extremely useful to combo with but not kill attacks unless its the F-air... Her D-smash isn't a kill move but can be used to edge guard like the D-tilt. The D-air has a weak spike that is only useful on characters that suck at jumping. Her U-smash is her best kill move but short characters don't get hit by it on the ground. Rosalina has a OK speed and a pretty good recovery but she is unresistant (maybe too much you guys decide so I can fix that part)..

So yeah... Didn't change much at all... Just balanced...

Anyone who downloaded it can re-download it now from where you got the last one!

Moderators if you want you can reset the hack in my vault for rosalina back to 0 since everyone has to re-download it.

Idea for an Up-B move:

Rosalina uses magic to surround herself in a bubble like shield. Think of Super Mario Galaxy, when Mario falls off of the Observatory, and floats back up. She could also have that rainbow afterglow that trails Mario when he falls off.
Pretty much, she puts her hands and wand out, and floats upward, Wizard of Oz style (if you remember the good witch from the beginning of the movie, when she floats down to Dorothy).

As for mobility, you should be able to move around horizontally at a slow-to-moderate speed, as she floats upwards. Think of how Snake's Up-B is.

The bubble would only look like a shield however, and she could easily be attacked when moving up. After she reaches the end of the move, she could go into the idle state already made, where she gently floats downwards with her wand (operating similar to Peach's umbrella). If the Up-B is used on a character, the beginning of the move would have a hitbox, as the bubble is formed.

That's my two cents, please comment if you like, dislike, or see potential additions onto this idea.

Hey, just wanted to say this looks great, but something's wrong with the Mediafire link.  Whenever I click "Click here to download", nothing happens.  Other items on Mediafire work great.  Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is the link bad?

I don't if anyone noticed, but whenever Rosalina is hit while using an attack that uses her umbrella the umbrella stays in her hand until she completes another attack using an umbrella. It doesn't affect gameplay or cause any side-effects though, and it could be because I'm using your moveset with KAZECoyote's vertex hack of Rosalina.

Anyway, great job on this moveset for Rosalina. I really love how you moved her away from Peach's standard set while at the same time maintaining balance. Looking forward to future updates.

Apparently whenever I play as her (and I'm sure it applies to CPUs as well) the game will freeze after playing a match for a while. I didn't have this problem with the last version of your moveset so I thought it was something in this new update. Do you (or anyone else) have any idea as to why this happens? Just so we're clear on this situation, I use Standard Brawl (no hacks) with Riivolution.

Hmm never froze for me... I use brawl+ and neogamma... I didn't make any huge updates since I was already happy with it before... Try deleting and putting the hack back in...

On another note. If anyone wants to take this edit it make new attacks and release go for it!

Um Hi, I really liked Rosalina Ver 2. Moveset, it makes my brother angry when I spam her aerials (especially her Nair), one problem though...She freezes the One player mode after about maybe 5 minutes of playing. Is it possible you could fix that? I haven't tried Complete Rosalina yet but I like all of Ver 2 Rosalina's moves.
