Nope, I gave up on that one. 
It's set on the same planet though... and it's going to play similarly to Corneria.

Thanks. I might as well explain what the stage is going to be and whatnot.~Warning: Incoming Wall of Text~ Basically, it's going to be a long tunnel set on the planet SR-388. Anyone familiar with the Metroid series will know that's the Metroid's homeworld. So, naturally, there will be plenty of Metroids in the background.
This will not only include a fully animated walking Metroid Queen (who I originally intended to be the main platform where you fight on) but various other Metroids along the evolutionary lineage as well, including an Omega Metroid, which I'll have to model myself.
But that'll come later. Way, waaaaaaay later.
Rather than fighting on the back of the Metroid Queen, I opted to stick her in the background and have the fighting take place on a platform of some sort that's flying through the cave. I haven't really decided on it's design though.
Which brings me to the hardest part of making this: designing the background. Since Metroid II was monochrome and very nondescript in terms of the background, I don't have much to work with, which means I have to think things up myself.
Which is never a good thing.
As such, I decided to base the background off of Sector 1 from Metroid Fusion, which is supposed to be a faithful replica of SR-388. I snapped a few reference pics to help myself, and here's one so you can see the resemblance somewhat:
I'm using the Mushroomy Kingdom world 1-2 model as a base, but there still was a lot of editing that went on. That back wall was made vertex by vertex, and the normals were flipped and fixed one by one. An arduous task, as it turned out.
If you read all that, you are the biggest masochist ever.
tl;dr
It's a Metroid II stage that'll function like Corneria.

Also also, I learned a better way to model the back wall, so I'm gonna give modeling that another shot. Hopefully it'll turn out much better in half the time.

Oh there is no way that'd work. XD
Charizard's hips are much to wide to rig any form of Ridley over. Oddly enough, he fits to Captain Falcon's proportions pretty well.
... but that would be pretty weird. And I'm not that desperate for Ridley.

Myeh, but then they'd have to add wing bones and mouth bones and toe bones and finger bones and really it'd just be a pain in the ass.
In other news, the new method of wall-making I had in mind didn't exactly work how I thought it would, so I started making it from scratch.
Then my computer decided to die.
I didn't lose too much work though, thanks to the autoback feature. I've got to apply for a few grants and schedule some appointments today, but once that's all said and done I'll get back to work. Hopefully I can have some sort of worthwhile preview up today.
