I registered on KC:MM just so I could join your school, StarWaffle! Of course, I intended to join the forums eventually, but these classes are so tempting!
Screen name: Neurotoxicity Current skill level: 2/10 (I tried out Miacis' tutorial, but I had trouble exporting) Age: 17
School Supplies: -Computer: ol' Windows XP laptop. 1.60 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. -BrawlBox 0.63d and 0.64d -AiS 0.1.3 (From Miacis' tutorial) -3DSmax 9 (Sorry, I only have 9. Is that alright?) 3DS max COLLADA script (Got ColladaMax 3.05C from Miacis' tutorial. Is that the same thing?) Mariokart64n Script (From Miacis' tutorial) -Photo editing program: GIMP 2.7.3 -Tons and tons of motivation!

Wow this is quite interesting. I think I'll try to sit in, though I may be late due to my schedule on weekdays. But regardless, I'd love to see how you do it and possibly improve my own skill in the process.

-3DSmax 9 (Sorry, I only have 9. Is that alright?)
There's a lot of chances that it's going to work with 9 as well, yes. But 2008 ,2009 and 2010 have much less chances of working since they lack retro-compatibility with 8 and 9. If you're in doubt, just try and do the steps in my tutorial up to step 8. If the DAEs from COLLADA don't show up on step 7, or if mk64n's script causes an error on step 6, it means 3DS MAX 9 wasn't good. 3DS max COLLADA script (Got ColladaMax 3.05C from Miacis' tutorial. Is that the same thing?)
Yes. ColladaMax = The COLLADA script/plugin for 3DS MAX.

The mariokart method works fine in 2008-2010, vertex wise anyway, I've tried it myself. Works great with less patching needed still need to patch stuff, but only annoying things (Like Links pouches X_X )

Because the script for ColladaMax is supposed to be for 3DS MAX 8. Dunno how you did to get it to work, if you found another download than my own for Colladamax 2010 or something. Or maybe you ere lucky, I don't know. Fact is : In 3DS MAX 8 it's working much better on average. From experience. And what do you even mean with "less patching needed" ?

I just realised that the classes start tomorrow. Good luck to all you newbies out there. I'll need to set up my school after this too. Though I'm not sure what exactly I would teach XD

And what do you even mean with "less patching needed" ?
Items that take a lot of patches (Like links pouch, or his shields) only took 2 or 3 patches at the most. And I just use it the way I normally would in 3DS Max 8, I don't know about anything past 10, but mariokart's method works just fine in 8-10 You have to have 3DS Max 8 installed as well, with the colladda plugin installed for that too, it may slow your comp down a little(Running other programs that demand a lot of memory I mean) but it's worth it ^+^ If 3DS Max 8 and 3DS Max 10 are installed, and you have collada max installed for both, then it'll work like normal =3 Also make sure to use BJ's latest brawlbox to do it. I only use 3DS Max 8 to save my DAE as a .max file, then open it up in 10 and procede with mariokarts method as I normally would in 3DS Max 8. Works just fine from what I've done so far Of course I'm doing all of this on a $1200 computer lol that may be part of it XP or not XD

Well, then it doesn't help new people much then. Since the main difficulty is mostly always to find 3DS MAX 8 anyway. But I guess I'll remember that less patching trick and try it sometime.

I got my 3DS Max 8 the "unoficial" way (IE: Torrents) it's a pain to find it, let alone finding one that works, but it's worth it if you prefer 10 over 8 ya know? Pluss, BJ's importer only works with 10 anyway even though it's not entirely finished ^+^ Also, I made a full tutorial for how to do it, in case you ever get your hands on 3DS Max 8/Collada Max 8. Here's the link: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=33002.new#new
