Why ROB? He has less to work with then Toon Link even. Further more, if you want real projectiles... Why not use Lucas? Or Ness? Yes. I know they already have PSAs on them, but still. If you want a character like Geno to feel more real, he needs real projectiles, rather then one real one, then a bunch of fake ones...

Incorrect
1) ROB has a real projectile. Infact, he has two. The laser N-B and the Gyro Down B (although granted it's a rather obscure projectile). Not to mention, the Gyro is a costume specific projectile meaning it can be customised much like Ike's 2nd sword.
2) ROB has the most external graphic models out of every character in the game. In his FitRobot.pac there are I believe 18 different graphic models to use (something like that). Geno seems like a very graphic heavy character, so being able to give him loads of unique graphics would work really nicely.
3) ROB has very little as far as worthwhile replacements go. Toon Link doesn't have much either, but he has more than ROB.

I thought the Gyro counted as an item though?

Well... True... But honestly, Toon Link has little replacements too. Other then glitchy ports, or Skull Kid (who's pretty broken mind you) or past Geno PSAs... He doesn't have hardly any either... Plus I just plain don't want a PSA I might be interested in replacing a main of mine... One who gets enough hate as is.

use the model from smahboards i got the model and i will possible rig it after i am done with goku over pit PSA if not someone else will do it as i prefer someone who is good at rigging can do it after Goku over pit/Waluigi over DDD we will start this project but needing more the moveset list is not done yet but anyway i think ppl can already guess what "B" attacks Geno will get here is my ideas for it: N-B: Geno Beam(will use a edited GFX model of Goku´s kamehameha) Side-B: Geno While Down-B: Geno Blast up-B: Geno Boost(alot like the one from Figher Geno PSA) FS: Geno Flash ppl can still come up with some ideas(needing ideas for Airs and Throws right now) good i already got afew animations done

Well as being a big geno fan so this is what I think his texture should be over and the main moves
Texture over toon link
N B smash-geno whirl Like how link has the boomerang, it would be the same
Up B smash-geno beam Geno uses this and faces it down to give him a boost
Side B smash-geno flash He turns into a cannon and shoots a ball of energy and can also be charged(like lucario or samus)
Final smash-geno boost Powers himself up and fires a insta kill geno whirl(like Zelda/Shieks'final smash)

Hey i was thinking! Why not let me port geno over marth when he is done? Cuz i know that its not possible to port models over rob, but marth can be REL ported both pal and Ntsc. And does geno really needs a sfx?

Geno´s models will be rigged over R.o.B´s boneset but a R.o.B boneset that is edited so much so it looks more like Mario´s (he will be same size as mario) so .rel porting not needed the only thing that is needed is hex R.o.B´s haveN bone to a other ID for Geno´s boneset and get that red light effect on R.o.B´s head removed thats also reminds me geno basely just needing his model and PSAing cuz i found my old animations back then i started on him and there is for almost all "A" ground attack+all "B" attacks so just Airs and throws(in beta it will just be Mario´s) jump/fall/run will be mario´s too since these animations fits for many mario char. and taunts/wins/entry/wait1 is base what needed to be made for beta and ofc PSA anything and the model for Geno

If this is offically over ROB, i can help animate. if its over TL, forget it. its over R.o.B im making boneset out of R.o.B´s boneset but not sure it will work since im possible needing R.o.B´s N-B laser for Geno beam will try to get Geno about same size as Mario so i can use mario´s Landing/hurt/cliff animations
