any luck with the facial expressions?
doesnt mario use different faces that can be vertexed or something?

A good way to improve the textures would be to take the lighter colors from the sprite and use them to brighten the lighter colors a little, and take the darkest color that is not black for each color and darken the darker parts a little. It will gradually add more contrast.

a nitpick not about the texture, but the pose, play with the shoulderN bone along with the shoulderJ to avoid that awkwardness, it looks like his arm flipped around a couple of times xD

It's a WIP and I'm getting help from people because I'm colorblind and it's difficult. Where else have you seen it? |

Yes, and thank you. These colors become extraordinarily different, 9/10 I'm doing brown when I think I'm doing red, or Cyan when I think I'm doing purple. It's tough ;_;
