Vyse: Did you try changing the Charset of EVERY table to unicode, or whatever the equivalent on your new server is? Keep in mind that if they use a different database type than your original host, there are many settings you would have to change then change back, for it to save what it is supposed to be in the new version... This applies for MySQL to different SQL engines, as well as even exporting and importing within MySQL, if the database is a different type: Especially when switching between *SAM* and InnoDB formats in different versions of MySQL. If you're using PHPMyAdmin to edit it, it's more likely to happen, I use Navicat for changing versions. Would you like me to help you with your coding and databases? Take a look at my site in my sig, the music player, song list, and Brawl Revamped sections of the site are programmed about 70% in PHP, and I've run private servers, so while I'm not an expert on memorizing all PHP functions, I've gotten really good at debugging. In fact, I learned that PHP simply by editing random code I found online, lol. On a different note: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=28252Guy has been reported several times, for fake previews on 3 of his hacks, reporting his own hacks so he can't be reported, ignoring reports, and he messaged me saying: "They are previews, the third one is just XD your no fun!" He still continues to leave it up and edit reports without changing things. |

Oh my god. Yes. I have tried everything. When I say I am out of ideas, that kinda implies I've tried everything, I think?
The database type didn't change. They all have UTF-8 collation. That was what they were on the last host, when special characters worked. When we got here, they already had that collation, but special characters didn't work. So I switched them to something else, then back. No dice. Made sure the MySQL connection in PHP was configured to use UTF-8. Nothing.
And now, I am done talking about special characters forever. I have occasionally made mention of a priority list. Special characters aren't even on it.

Ok, I'd feel the same way, and honestly prefer it all in English... But one thing: How is it the head admin is still using a Japanese character name?  Still, did you want to want any help with coding? |

I removed the silly description line about reports and the 3rd "lulzy" picture in each submission, then issued him a pretty firm ultimatum by PM. If anyone sees him posting more useless pics as previews or still reporting his own hacks, just say it here and I'll make sure to remove his submission/reporting rights accordingly. |

But one thing: How is it the head admin is still using a Japanese character name? It's only BV that has trouble with it. Which is why I'm so stumped: all those tables are the same. Maybe, when I roll out the BV updates I'm working on, the problem will take care of itself. I don't know. And no, I don't need any help coding. Can anything be done for Spam PM's? You can also block the sender. |

Get this, forums or BV, so I'm posting it here, since I was already here, lol. This shows up every time I get a new PM, it's been like this since the site came back up: Don't know if it was like this before that. Shows like this regardless of how many PMs, I believe. Yeah, you're not allowed to look at the forum's source. I appreciate that you are trying to help, but please stop trying to code for me. That error occurs only if you've enabled the "new PM" alerts. It doesn't matter how many PMs there are; it was a problem with a function not being called when it should be. I'm not sure how it got that way, because I don't recall ever messing with that file, but it should be fixed now. Hey Vyse, I have the Japanese SSBB Data Partition if you still wanted to add it to the resource page. Sure, why not. |
