No poll, mainly because unlike the PSA one, I honestly don't know why people don't animate (or at least attempt it). The only reason that I can think of is that in order to bring out an animation's full potential, you need to do some PSA work, but even then you can do stuff like Tormod and his MJ dance, or Kit and her Caramellbrawl.
Honestly, animating is not hard to learn at all. It only requires one or two tutorials and the ability to move a ball around with the mouse. Not to mention it's the only form of hacking that only requires ONE PROGRAM. Sure making good animations takes an innate skill, but so does every form of hacking. Not to mention that animating is definitely something that you get better at as you do more of it. Like many forms of art, you learn tricks as you go along. This doesn't just apply to Brawlbox animating, but EVERY kind of animating.
There should be more animators It's fun and not hard to get into.

It's a daunting task... Pluss, it's difficult not to make stuff look too, well, stiff and robotic.

I can somewhat animate. But some of those were just edited Brawl animations.

I freaking love animating I started animating as soon as I started Nel, before the rotation orbs came out.

Yeah, we're a rare breed. I love doing it, no matter if it's the new rotation method with 0.64 or the older ones.
The only thing is, Animations are very difficult to actually make work in-game. The only reasons one would animate would be for imports or PSA, and we already know how the people feel about PSA.

I know many animators have quit 'cause, in the end, they wanted to make a PSA, and since they can't find the time to learn PSA'ing, they seeked for PSA assistance on their projects and didn't find it.
An example of this is Kit. She gave up her Tifa PSA 'cause of this.

Ah but that is where the tricks to make your life easier come in! I figured out quite a few to make animating faster and more efficient whilst them still looking half decent. Maybe I'll make a guide showing my personal tips and tricks. But then again, half the fun about animating is adopting your own style. Yeah my first animations for Viewtiful Joe were in the older versions of Brawlbox. That was when it was painfully time consuming @.@ i thank a guide on how to make animations look good wold be nice to have

Yup. It takes a lot of time to do. And patience, which is something most gaming and hacking communities don't have. Since I had a lot of time, I learned by playing around with BB myself.

-_- I have some blame too. I was helping Kit with Tifa, but then my computer had a problem.

Just in case, no one's blaming you, I was just sayin'. This has also happened to less known animators, 2, if I recall correctly. I just hope Kit finds the enthusiasm to attempt to animate again, she was really decent at it.

I once made Marth three claw moves for a Vertex, it took me 4 months to do, since I had the old Brawlbox and a lot less motivation.
It died with my computer. And thus I never animated again.

Well, I'll tell you why... Yes, it is indeed easy to animate, however, making a whole move set takes a lot of time, and making it look good takes longer, heck, even you recycled animations from Ike to make Cloud...
But yeah, bottom line, standards are set very high, plus... What good is say... One idle pose? That's all I can seem to make, but it wouldn't do much good to have without more to accompany it.
Plus, as Cloudy said, people find it useless without a PSA to go with it, heck, there's some people who are halted with their progress, like MarioKing, he made almost EVERY ANIMATION FROM SCRATCH for Waluigi, yet no one is willing to help him out with the PSA... That's disappointing, so why bother animating, if no one is willing to help you out with a PSA?

Personally, I enjoy animating. To me, it's only daunting task to get fixing those damn translations.
