1  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Brawl Vault Problems, Updates, and Suggestions on: June 26, 2013, 07:58:36 PM
Can we get a keyword filter option for the Vault? I'd like the option not to see certain things, (mainly the nude hacks, don't want anyone looking over my shoulder to see that stuff on my screen.)

I would probably suggest something like making hacks be labeled as adult content if they contain such content, like making it an option for submissions to check "adult content", but then again, that requires a change of code within the search filter as well as the submission dialogue, not to mention having to search the entire vault to label the hacks already posted with that criteria.

Invalid report here: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=32675

Complains that this hack is using the Soul Calibur II model, which really isn't a big deal, whether SSB4 Link looks like that or not (he's got the shading for the part, though), and the person who created/released that model as a hack was credited.

EDIT:

I made a mistake with another hack... I read the description, which told me that I'd be redirected to an Ad.fly link before I get to the download, and reported it.  But when I clicked the hack download from the Vault, I was taken directly to the download rather than an Ad.fly link.  Whoops.

I can't copy and replace the files, it says I need more MB, which is quite stupid. Any ideas?

Try deleting the files you will replace before replacing them.  My PC does the same thing.  If a 2 GB SD card has nearly 2 GB worth of files, and you want to replace 1 GB of it, you need to get rid of enough files so that the SD card has 1 GB space open.

You know, it could be something to do with your XML, Kienamaru.  If specific songs are played at the wrong stage, then it could be that the XML is telling them to play them at those times.  Maybe you could look into that to double-check.

Glad it helped. Smiley

If ever I said Jigglypuff is lame, I was sorely mistaken.  Im srs here

This is beyond (pun not intended) helpful for me, especially when working with Riivolution to completely replace a character.

Thank you so much for this bit of information. Smiley

Mr. MW, you are an angel sent from SSB heaven...

Is there any way to allow these functions to exist in Riivolution?  I recall that Beyond's codehandler.bin and Brawl.xml files allow Riivolution to run even if the FPC is active, but I do not know if any of the code could be read.  Does Riivolution discriminate against any code that is labeled as code for FPC (meaning if any code exists under File Patch Code X.X.X in a GCT or txt file, it isn't read at all), or could the code you added that isn't directly related to FPC be used at all, whether placed within the FPC 3.5.3 code or separated into its own code?

That's precisely how I viewed the subject, Miacis.  I just wasn't sure whether joke reporting a joke mod would be any different.  I mean, if someone actually liked the joke mod but found a problem with how it worked, then I guess that would put me in the same boat had I joke reported it myself (not even sure what joke to make about this one in particular, it was kinda grotesque of a texture and not really something that appealed to my sense of humor, but that's irrelevant).

Hm... Maybe I should spoiler this for the sake of people who tl;dr:

I mean, I may have seen a joke mod or five I thought were pretty interesting.  And even if those in particular were buried beneath countless other hacks over time, there's still the possibility of something actually worth reporting about the hack.  I'm sure you know about the increasing number of lost hacks due to file deletions (won't say that Mediafire is the only offender).

If some new user that likes to prank his friends with these joke mods, and sees that they are lost to the depths of the internet, and joke reports are present on them, he/she is likely to complain somewhere in this forum (not necessarily in this topic, either).  This creates tension between people who know where to post this kind of stuff, the BV staff that have to deal with issues arising from the tension, and the natural frustration that the new user cannot download the hacks he/she wants and gets ground up for making the issue known.

Like you said, Miacis, the report function is used to report ISSUES with hacks working at all.

Zelia, I do see eye to eye with you on the harmlessness of joke reports on joke mods, but in the long run, it's not gonna be so harmless if that joke mod is not maintained.  I get the sudden urge to crack a joke so many times anywhere, and often I get reprimanded because the joke just wasn't said right or the joke went into an entirely different direction for discussion.

I would think it'd be a little less quite a problem if the joke were made through PM or in the thread where it was announced uploaded to the Vault.  That's just my way of thinking.  It doesn't change the outcome either way.  The joke will get old and skimmed over as time passes.

tl;dr Jokes reports to joke mods are harmless until they prevent legitimate reports from being submitted from those who care.

Are there rules against joke reports, then?

I've seen several hacks I thought of a wisecrack to throw at it, but, in my mind, it is inappropriate to report something just because you want a joke to be heard (or read).  Kinda [censored]ish if there was an actual problem with the hack and a joke report just sits over the hack indefinitely...

He's right - the link only works when it's on your computer. Just put all your SD card stuff in a .zip file and upload that. (It could take a while to upload depending on your internet speed.)

One more thing: here's a version of Kienamaru's .zip file for Brawl- with the music included. I also had to re-make the common5 because it crashed for some reason, but it should work now.

Hm.. I was waiting a while for this.  Great to see you finally got to it. Smiley

Looks like someone needs to learn how to give credit and read rules... (referring to uploader)

Just to be clear... The .lnk files are only usable as per user... This means that your .lnk file only links me to the directory that it would have if you clicked it.  If I clicked it, it would tell me to look for the I:/ drive.  So you need to upload all the files as a zip in order for me to see what's on the SD card.

Basically, you sent me a link that leads to an empty (non-existent) drive on my PC.

Doesn't Dropbox take down files if they use too much bandwith?

Possible, but I haven't witnessed it.

Is it weird that I don't have a text file? I got my GCT for Brawl + from Smashmods, and if I recall I don't remember it coming with a txt, just gct file.  Does the txt matter, as I have edited codes before with a code editor to add adn remove codes before (adding in codes to allow Pit to act like roy and removing stage freezing), if that is the case then it shouldn't be much of a problem for me.

As long as you can isolate the File Patch Code to disable it, then there shouldn't be any issues.
14  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Brawl Hacks and Riivolution on: May 19, 2013, 12:26:39 PM
Okay so I have followed all of the instructions for the Riivolution on the N00B guide. When I load up Riivolution I have two pages one page shows File Replacement and it allows me to toggle it on and off, and then I have a second page that has Ocarina and then Codes. The toggle for Ocarina has several modes or something of the like called hooks, I just turned it on to the first one which was V1, and I enabled codes. When I launched it goes to a black screen and just gets stuck there and I have to hard reset my Wii. Would anyone happen to know why its doing that? I'm thinking that it might be one of the XML files as I have two. One that I got from the download link on the N00B guide which is entitled SSBBfiles and then another called Ocarina, both of which are in the riivolution folder on the root of my SD card. The config folder within that also has XML file called RSBE. My intuition is telling me its these multiple XML files, but I'm not entirely sure.

Alright, according to this, I would assume the ONLY thing you might have forgotten was disable the File Patch Code in the GCT.

Seems like everyone forgets to do this... (Don't worry, I've done it, too) Just grab a GCT creator and the txt file for the codes you use, load up the txt enable everything you want but disable any File Patch Codes you see.  You should be all set after that.

Well, the xml and bin I got were from the Riivolution home page... I don't know if the Noob thread had the link to it, but yeah, they should be just about the same, since it's been around for a little less than 2 years.
